Still concerned after being to docs

Morning

After only realising I had ckd 3 last Friday. I have been back today to see doctors. My gfr has dropped from 44 to 41. Checked urine no signs of protein or blood

I have been told to stop taking one of my blood pressie tablets for 3 weeks and go back to see if that has made a difference. I have been referred for a kidney scan and I have an appointment with the renal team

The doctor would not really say anything until she has more information. I am out of my mind now

Blood pressure meds can have an adverse effect on your GFR. It's a time-consuming process to find out which one may hinder your treatment, that's why it's best to counter the minor ups and downs with a healthy eating and exercise program. Even dosages of meds can have a negative effect on your kidney's health.

Try not to stress out too much during this process. At least now you know they are working with you and for you to find out what will work for you and what won't work. It's a difficult time but one many of us have had to endure.

Hang in there and come back often to share and get support.

Thank you so much for your support. I have drastically changed my diet of late and lost over a stone and a half. I walk regularly too.

I will try my best not to worry. I just find it hard.

Speaking with people in the same boat does help. Thank you again

A couple of points up or down can be caused by many things, so don't fret over that right now. The good news is you don't have blood or protein. That's really positive! Try practicing stress relieving activities such as deep breathing, yoga, meditation etc. walking is great too, so you are off to a good start!

Keep us all posted. Many of us stop by regularly. :)

Thank you so much for your support. It really helps. I'm going for a walk in a bit as it's a lovely day here today.

The doctor just did a dip test on my urine. She said they'll do a more thorough test at the hospital.

Have a good day 😀

Try not to panic. At stage 3 you could stay well for a long time. Blood pressure medication can affect kidney function. Also, GPs are not overly experienced in the finer aspects of renal disease. Your scan will give the nephrology team some answers. If there is no blood or protein in your urine, take this as a positive. For now, try to eat healthily, take a little exercise if you can, drink plenty of water and reduce salt, which will both help lower your bp and reduce strain on your kidneys. Take care and again- try not to worry too much at this stage.

It can be disconcerting, but much can be done to remediate it, by catching it at early stage.

Hi Briffa, what you are experiencing doesn't surprise me. I don't think doctors know what to say so they don't say anything... it doesn't seem to occur to them that this response leaves people worried out of their minds. I brought this up in my what's going on post. My egfr has been yo-yo ING between 27 and 22 for over two years.

I totally agree. I'm trying my best not worry. But you can't help it. Especially when you don't get much guidance from the docs. I've got a scan this a Friday. So I'm worried again. The good thing is im having a full mot. So that's good. It so helps to know I'm not in my own and a lot of things I have come against are not uncommon xx
