When I was first diagnosed with ckd my gfr was 29 it's now 39. The only change I made was eating good healthy food and drinking plenty of water.

To be honest food will make a difference but I think it was down to blood pressure control mainly. My consultant recommended Mediterranean type food. Hope this helps. I'm not sure how old your husband is but I am only 26 so that may be a reason. I think I rememeber my consultant saying that your gfr % can be effected in what you have eaten before you bloods are taken! I have also cut out salt in everything.
