Can CKD cause hair loss ??

i dont think so but stress can, half of my hair fell out a couple of years ago, i think because illness had me very stressed

Never come across this before and have had 5 people in my family all have suffered with ckd

I got on to the "DaVita" site and there was some good info on there re hair loss and nails, with CKD

my hubby has suffered hair loss since he has been in stage 5 also very dry scalp & skin since dialysis so for some people i think this might happen everyone is different!

Hi there havent been around for a while as been unwell but glad to be back and to find out what issues are coming up for people. Any hair specialist will tell you that all long term or even short term health conditions cause a weakening or damage to the hair. I know many peolpe who experience a lot of chages in thier hair and hair loss on dialysis and after transplants and I have had this challenge, as did my mum. My ahior went from being very straight and quite thick to curley and much finer. I also think the worry that CKD causes and often other hormonal and nutritional inbalances add to the problem. I fothers are interested I would like to,look at this in more detail and see if there are things we can do to help protect our hair and skin. they may seem small issues but they are linked with self esteem when living with long term conditions and the occurance could help us to identify nutritional and hormal balance problems whihc could be treated as well.

I would be interested to know if there is anything we could do to help protect our hair and skin. My hair use to be really thick, and I'm only at stage 3 CKD I hate the thought of going bald.

i take biotin for my hair, i get it in holland and barrat, its also good for skin
