Has anyone with a kidney transplant had the vaccine yet?

I have! First dose. My arm was in a lot of pain for 2 1/2 days, but that was it. No other issues.

Received my first dose last Sunday. I had very little reaction - my arm didn't even feel sore unless I pressed on the injection site.

Yes, had mine last Sunday ( Pfizer )next one hopefully in 9weeks, just had sore arm for a few hours

You need to talk to your nephrologist and discuss with him your concerns. My nephrologist and most that have responded here want us as transplant recipients to GET the VACCINE ASAP! No side effects for me...not even a sore arm.

If you have never reacted to your yearly flu shot, you should have no reaction to the COVID vaccine. My brother, who is 79, has reacted to the flu vaccine in the past and was told to get the Astra Zeneca vaccine. He lives in Florida and has gotten his 1st shot.The CDC is not going to inject a vaccine to millions of people around the world that is not safe.

SO.....you discussed with your nephrologist? Then you get what you are trying to avoid. I did not get a transplant to die of COVID. Think you are being toooooooo political! LIFE is pretty special to me and will not let that stop me......

I received my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on 1/20/2021. My transplant nephrologist highly recommended that I receive the mRNA type vaccine. I trust his judgement. I just had a little tenderness at the injection site for a day. I go back on 2/10. I had mine down at the off site vaccine clinic that my transplant hospital has. It was well organized and I felt very safe. Parking was great for an added bonus.

Good question. To all that replied-are you in USA? I live in Chicago and it doesn't appear that the vaccine will be administered in any time soon. I'm so tired of this Covid Prison. It is so depressing.

I live in Wyoming and got first shot on January 13th and 2nd is on schedule for February 10th - Moderna. I was in group 1b

I'm in Florida got both my doses. I'm a nurse so got it at work. So glad I could do my part to help stop COVID... as a bonus I get to go to the Superbowl!!! The NFL gave out 7500 tickets to vaccinated healthcare workers

I received my first shot on January 13th and my 2nd is scheduled for February 10th. I got the Moderna vaccine. No side effects for me, not even a sore arm.For anyone that wonders about it, you should have a conversation with your nephrologist. Mine wanted me to be one of the first in line. I am 21+ years post transplant and have been immunosuppressed for all this time. Not knowing when and or IF I would get COVID is incentive enough for me to get the vaccine

Yes, I have received my first dose with no ill effect and getting second dose next week. In John Hopkins study which checks your immune response to the Coronavirus injections.

My son had his first dose a few weeks ago. Second dose soon. Had some arm discomfort, but not bad at all. Nothing else thank goodness.

Yes, I have had the first moderna one. 6 days later I came down with Covid and have been very sick but they do not think it was the vaccine. I had to have antibody infusions to try and lessen the impact of the virus. I am finally feeling better and will be out of quarantine tomorrow. Will have to start my vaccine all over but have to wait 90 days from day of infusion. My doctor was very clear with me, she said “ The risk of dying from Covid far outweighs any risk associated with getting the vaccine”.

I got my first shot a few days ago no problems, no side effects & to those that might be hesitant, my good friend who is also a kidney transplant recipient caught COVID-19 & was in isolation for 2 1/2 weeks on a high pressure Cpap machine constantly & he is still recovering & he is in his forties & in good physical shape, my point is if it can do that to my friend imagine what it will do to a elderly person are a person with other ailments & a transplant. I read an article by Dr. Anthony Fauci & he strongly recommends the vaccine, so I got the first shot and am waiting on the second but they’ve ran out in my area.

How were you able to receive the vaccine so quickly? It isn't available to us still unless we are 65 and older- health workers etc. I did get the covid and antibody infusion which supposed to work like the vaccine for some time.

I am an educator and it was through my job! I’m 65 also, ready to retire next year. That didn’t have any thing to do with it. But I’m in the 1B category.

No. I haven't gotten my invation from Novant to set up a date. My nephrologist appointment is in February and I will call Monday. My husband is going Sunday because the Sheriff's Department where he works set it up. My father went last week and sat in the car for awhile before the shot.

Looking forward to getting a vaccine when it's available to me. No idea when that will be yet in my state, maybe a few months? They have not yet given a timeline for when immunocompromised (transplant recipient) people under 65 will be eligible. Very frustrating, but continuing to wait patiently.
