Research Study

I received a new kidney for Valentine's Day! My system is not taking myfortic very well and as such my doctor suggested a pilot study using everolimus. This is being tested as a replacement for myfortic and steroids. I am looking for feedback if anyone has been on this type of study.

My husband takes Myfortic and Everolimus, no steroids for 3 years with no problems.

Congrats on your new kidney!!!

I was in the original study with Myfortic. Everyone in 1999 took Cellcept and Neoral. Cellcept had a lot of gastrointestinal issues. Anyway, as a result of the study Myfortic was born. Suppose to have a "coating" making it easier on your stomach. I am 18 years post transplant and Myfortic causes me periodic diarrhea. I don't know anything about everolimus, but I would sure be willing too switch, especially if it kept me off steroids. Maybe your doctor could provide more info on the drug for you?

Let us know the result. Take care.
