I have been on dialysis for past 4 months. Why am I getting too much giddiness and leg tingling?

At the initial stage of dialysis I am okay but after a month of dialysis I am getting giddiness and leg tingling. I am imbalance now. Can't walk without someone else support. Please advise what should I do. Regards.

I have leg tingling, too, after dialysis. Mine stems from a chronic condition that started when I turned 50 ( I am 67 now). I always have the staff return me to a seated position with my feet on the floor as soon as possible before taking the needles out. It helps me to stand up and walk around to get the feeling back in my right leg. For example, I walk to the scale and back before getting my belongings to go home. I am able to drive myself back and forth from dialysis. I also make sure that my standing blood pressure is good enough before I try walking around. I started taking midodrine midtreatment to elevate my ending blood pressure. I'm not sure of the giddiness - is that a neurological symptom? I would check with the nurses and nephrologist. I would also check to see if they are still just cleaning your blood or if they have started to remove fluid as well. That might have to do with tingling legs sensation. It takes time before your circulation returns to normal after a dialysis treatment. Good luck!

Have your Dr. run a blood screen and check your magnesium. You may have the beginnings of Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS). I developed this and my Dr. said it is quite common for people on dialysis to develop it. There is some data that says magnesium will help especially if you're low. There are medications to help with RLS.

I feel for you...When I was on dialysis at home ( peritoneal), I found out that I was severely anemic which can cause the leg tingling. Have you doctor check your iron profile, glycohemoglobulin, TSH and vitamin B levels. It could be neuropathy in combination with dialysis side effects....
