Anyone here undergone/contemplated weight loss surgery (sleeve)?

Hi,

I contemplated it for about an hour. I went online and found a video of a gastric sleeve surgery. After watching it I decided that when I came into this world I had all my parts and when I leave this world I wanted to go with all of my parts. A few of the hairs on my head made a different choice and have left early. I went on a diet and changed my eating habits, portion control, etc. and began my own program. I lost 130 lbs.

About six months ago, I found out that I had CKD and after seeing a Renal Dietitian I had to switch to a kidney-friendly meal plan. Many of the foods I had incorporated into my menu were no longer healthy for me and my kidneys. I switched over to all kidney-friendly meals and in the last 6 months, I've lost another 7 pounds. I had hoped it would be more but that hasn't happened and I'm okay with the slower and healthier weight loss. From start to now it's been about 23 months and I have no regrets. I will continue to do things as I'm currently doing and any additional weight loss will happen in time.

Other factors have also been considered in my decision. One thing that I didn't consider was other peoples opinion. I did talk to a couple of people who had the gastric sleeve and that made the choice easier. Both of them were happy they did it but still found it difficult to comply with their current eating program. One other person that had a gastric bypass almost lost her life and wishes she had not had the surgery performed. In fairness, before I spoke to those three people I had already made the decision to not have the surgery done. Speaking to them just solidified my decision.
