Hello All,

Thank you for sharing this community page. I was diagnosed with FSGS in 2013 and started hemodialysis on June 11, 2014. After 3 years, my kidneys are still functioning in an impaired capacity. I still have good clearance but often cramp terribly during treatment and all night when I get home. I usually feel worse after dialysis, not better! Anyone else have this experience?

Hi Sunshine!

Love your name! I've been on hemodialysis a year and a half and I don't think it's normal that you are cramping so much. Have you talked to your doctor, nurses and dietitian about this? Are you having a lot of fluid gain between treatments? If you limit that you might feel better. Eating foods that are too salty will make you retain fluid. Also you need to limit how much you drink each day to about 6 cups a day. Don't forget soups and canned fruit contain fluid, too. Hope to hear from you! Take care!
