possible CKD stage 1?

During a routine appointment about my bladder, I had my urine tested and it came back that I had microscopic blood and protein. I have had it tested a few times and every time I have blood and protein, always +3 on each test.

I have no infection at all and no symptoms at all for a uti. I am having an urgent referral to urology but I would like someone to put my mind at ease especially due to the fact that I don’t understand the albumin results, while I am waiting for my appointment.

I have had my urea and electrolytes blood test done and that came back normal with “CKD status 1” labelled on the test

Coded entry - Urine protein test = +++ (4676.)

Coded entry - Urine blood test = +++ (4697.)

Coded entry - MSU sent to lab. (4615.)

Coded entry - Collection of urine specimen (Ua1J4)

Coded entry - Mid-stream urine sample (X7ADc)

Coded entry - Urine: cloudy (4627.)

Test result - Urine Albumin/creatinine Ratio Report, Satisfactory, No Further Action (Patient Informed).

24 Apr 2023 17:41

Coded entry - Urine creatinine level (XE2qO) 20.8 mmol/L

Coded entry - Urine albumin level (XE2eI) 225.3 mg/L

Coded entry - Urine albumin/creatinine ratio (XE2n3) 10.8 mg/mmol

I looked on their and it doesn’t mention about the ACR.

stage 1 mentions that egfr is 90 but you have protein and blood in your urine which I have.

Are you diabetic, or pre-diabetic?

I know that in the early stages of diabetes eGFR actually goes up as your kidney are hyper-filtrating.

eGFR of 90 is nowhere near CKD but would be good to consult with a nephrologist or urologist.

You got very good advice to see a urologist. Off the top, your report states "cloudy urine" which is often indicative of a uti which can cause microscopic blood and proteinuria. Your lab data states that your Urine Albumin/Creatinine Ratio Report is satisfactory, so that's a very good thing re your kidney situation. If you're a male, perhaps you may have prostate issues not allowing you to void well and setting up an environment for infections. If you're either a male or female with diabetes, that can also impact your bladder and influence its function. I'm sure there are other conditions out there that can do this too. None of us are medical professionals. I simply have a diabetic hubby who has gone through kidney failure/dialysis/transplant and who has had problems with his bladder independent of his kidneys. Diabetes compromised both organs. In any event, urine that is "cloudy" is generally a sign of an infection of some sort, even if you don't notice it. Some bladder infections can be close to your kidneys, others lower down. If so, it's best to get a handle on it, particularly if it's close to the kidneys. My hubby was actually denied a transplant due to "cloudy urine" that was came up positive for a low grade infection - my hubby had no other symptoms. Hope your urologist gives you answers (and a solution) soon.
