I have read multiple studies that Remdesevir, which I was treated for from COVID-19 virus last summer, causing CKD.

Are there anything I can do to REVERSE Remdesevir CKD effects?

Thank you in advance

In short…no. Once an organ such as the kidney is damaged all you can do is salvage what function is left. It doesn’t have the ability to regenerate like the liver does

If it was acute, yes it may be recovered with time. Many who've had dialysis due to acute kidney failure have been able to go off dialysis altogether. Each case must be assessed individually.

Have you been diagnosed with CKD?

that is not my question

I can't answer your question and I am not certain where to start. I did a quick search and I didn't find any study with compelling result. I found at least one study titled "Potential kidney damage associated with the use of remdesivir for COVID-19: analysis of a pharmacovigilance database" and the keyword here is potential. Potential mean potential not hard fact. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/347...

We can't diagnose you on this forum nor do I want to dismiss your health issue. However, it seems that you are jumping to conclusions hastily in regard to that specific medication. For instance, kidney damage can occur from certain virus like COVID-19 or chemical exposure (acute or chronic) and that could range from industrial to certain mold exposure. Chemicals with unknown health effects are more common than you think.

It's a complex disease and it doesn't have a cure. On the brighter side controlling your nutrition and exercising have improved the quality of life of many members on this forum and they are both within your reach. That too is not well understood.

My biggest advice is to engage with the proper specialist to better understand what is going on and what can be done. I personally had great experience with my renal dietician and their suggestion have been fantastic. An absolute godsend when thing I have been doing for years suddenly stop to work.

the issues is whether COVID-19 virus caused my fever, pneumonia that sent me to ER, which caused my treatment by Remdesvir that causes CKD

COVID is more likely to cause or kick start CKD than Remdesvir.

Do you have any of the other underlying causes for CKD such as high BP, diabetes? You might read this. If you already had insufficient renal function they you should not have been given this unless the hospital was trying to save your life.

i had covid 19 in dec and was put on a renal dose of paxlovid. i was reluctant to take it but i was basically told that taking it would be better than getting serious covid. my covid symptoms were better after 5 days. prior to covid my gfr was 50 for several years. in jan i went in for kidney labs my gfr was 40 , 2 weeks later 36, 2 weeks after that 27. i freaked out. my nephrologist said that some people lose kidney function after covid and they are not sure if you will ever improve at least to the point you were at prior. she does not believe it was the paxlovid but im not so sure. my last labs 3 weeks ago labs show gfr at 33. have more labs in 1 1/2 weeks. just hope it either remans at 33 or goes up. this disease is so anxiety provoking in so many ways.
