Good morning ☀️ Can someone please share with me some ways of lowering my Creatinine? My Gfr is going up and down in high 20s & low 30s & the cause is my Creatinine.

The best way is to avoid taking NSAIDs, lower your protein intake, no strenuous exercise, and take no supplements that contain creatinine. If you are already following those tips then you might want to consult with your nephrologist and see if further cutbacks can be made.Best of luck.

Thank you! I have read something about Dehydration? I don’t think I’m dehydrated but I do know there are certain days I drink more water then other days. How much water do you drink a day? I know everyone is diff just wondering

in reply to Dan1234567

Keeping in mind that water is all I drink, I consume about 72+ ounces per day. That doesn't include the water I take in from food.

Have you a prescribed CKD diet? Maybe ask your Doctor for an appropriate diet for you. I was diagnosed at CKD level 3b and the diet has helped me.

My CKD diet was Doctor prescribed based on my continued decline in eGFR, and other bloodwork results. I am restricted on sodium, phosphorus, protein and potassium. You are correct not everyone will be restricted on all these. I was diagnosed at CKD level 3b.

Hi Dan,

You have received super direction from both Mr._Kidney and Orange City to get you started.

What I would do is give your nephrologist a call and ask what he/ she recommends to help you lower your creatinine level and GFR. Additionally, I would ask for a referral to a renal dietician who will take a look at your labs and make food suggestions and portions which are healthy, appetizing and geared to your taste and needs.

Don't think of this as a diet, but a new lifestyle.

Just questioning and wanting to take action stop progression is a great.

Give it a thought and reach back to us and let us know the outcome!

I wrote before on this. Please take the readings first then for one week try to take a spoon of bicarbonate sodium (yeast) you will be amazed with the results . All become normal.

However there is a lot of NHS advice on it.

Sodium bicarbonate isn't called yeast here. Taking SB may be helpful for some but it won't make all normal. Just saying.

I said yeast because this is the proper name for it when used for cakes and sweats. It is not something you find in chemists and it works Very well.I don’t know how You say it works for some.

It is the best medicine not only for kidney but for mouth, gum, throat, stomach, and nhs says that it has 48 medical uses .

Go to Sainsbury and ask for cake yeast and you will be given BS.

Well, I do think we are talking oranges to apples. I am in the U.S. Here you can get sodium bicarbonate in tablets from the pharmacy or buy it at market in a box in powder form. Yeast here is often used to sprinkle on popcorn but mainly for rising breads and is completely different from SB. Different countries, different names, etc. different identifiers. Many people swear by apple cider vinegar. But it does not CURE ALL. I understand your explanation on BS, but it is not a cure all. It may be beneficial, but if it cured it would have done so in hundreds of thousands over the world. JMHO. Blessings

I can understand your point, but before taking bicarbonate I would check with your GP or nephrologist as I have had this discussion with mine about taking this.

Agreed. Every person is different with different needs.

Far too much sodium for most kidney patients! Please talk to your nephrologist before eating baking "soda".

Great info

Sodium Bicarbonate has 1259 mg of sodium in one teaspoon. Most CKD diets call for lowering sodium.

Treat whatever is the main cause of your kidney disease. If it's diabetes, get it under better control. If it's high blood pressure, get it under better control. And of course do all the healthy things - stop drinking, stop smoking, eat healthy, get your sleep apnea under control (if it applies to you), lose weight, exercise, get stress under control, etc.
