Do i have kidney disease?

First of all i am from Greece and doctors here do not have the knowledge doctors have in USA or uk. Anyway my story started many years ago when i had indigestion and fatigue. I thought i had IBS. Tried vegan diet, keto diet and many other diets but nothing worked. I had bloating, gas ,depression, fatigue.

Right now i am on diet on moderate protein and low in pottasium. It seems terrible but half my calories come from donuts. Its basically white bread with sugar and some fat and i digest them just fine. I do not eat meat anymore but i crave animal products. So i eat 4-6 egg yolks and 100 g of cheese per day. I throw away egg whites because they add too much protein.

P.s i have done blood tests for uria and creatinine and they were fine

We are not able to diagnose on our web site. We provide a forum for sharing information and supporting those with Kidney Disease. Consider asking your Doctor for an evaluation of your current blood work and previous blood work results.

Whatever are your conditions, it is certainly not healthy to meet half of your energy needs from doughnuts.

May be you should consult another Doctor if you are not happy with your present Doctor.

We cannot diagnose any condition on this forum but we can say "get another opinion from another doctor". Here in the USA, not all doctors have the same expertise, just like anywhere else. What I can say is "if you keep up on your junk food diet, you eventually will have something". Your body can take only so much. How can you expect to not have gas ingesting all those egg yolks? How many months were you on the "vegan" diet? Perhaps you should consider staying on a particular diet that your doctor recommends and not jump around like checkers on a board. It takes time for a diet to work. Give us some more information while I continue my quest for a vegan diet.

just to clarify, vegan is not necessarily the healthier choice. You can eat a lot of processed junk as a vegan as well. I did.

I know how frustrating it can be not knowing, but our health begins with the food we put in our mouths. Most of today's health issues stem from diet; by not eating veggies and fruits, we hurt our digestive tract which in turn can cause a lot of pain. White bread, fried foods, and eggs are not a long-term solution even though your body appears not to be reacting now. Treat and fuel your body well, it is the only one you have.

hello eleos,

I think you should spend some time reading about nutrition. First of all donuts are little death bombs. There is NOTHING healthy about eating them. And the fact you get half of your calories from that is really scary. Donuts are fried sugar bread. A delicious treat but horrible for you. For anyone as a main staple is ridiculous. No wonder you feel bad.

Second, the majority of saturated fat and cholesterol is in egg yoke. There is only 7 grams total in an egg, with the egg white having 4 to the yoke's 3. Not a big difference in that regard, but when it comes to health, eating high fat like egg yokes is also not good.

And again: cheese is high fat and salt. 100 grams is a lot for daily intake.

I think for your long term health you need to see a dietician or read/Google nutrition.

It is no wonder you have stomach issues and fatigue. Is there a reason why you think you have kidney disease?

With your diet I would be more worried about heart disease. Not trying to be rude, just giving you the facts.

You have said nothing about your GFR or eGFR numbers....this is the key indicator of Kidney function....a blood test can do this, surely in Greece you can get this done....then you will know more about that.....secondly, your diet is not right for healthy people...donuts and eggs...

I doubt it too. And like others have said, you are asking for other health issues with the diet. Good Luck.
