Thanks, Orangecity41. Informed patients are the best patients. Most doctors prefer informed patients (wanting a prescription based on a TV ad is perhaps an exception). I am half-way through the book, "Coping with Kidney Disease, a 12-Step Treatment Program to Help You Avoid Dialysis." It's by Mackenzie Walser, MD, a professor at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. While it's copyrighted 2004, the advice still seems relevant. It mainly promotes lifestyle and dietary steps. I also support DaVita's "Kidney Smart" program, so much so that I have attended it 3 times.
