Tests to Measure Kidney Function, Damage and Detect Abnormalities

There seem to be a lot of questions lately about different tests for Kidney issues and I thought it might be a good idea to bring this up to help clarify what tests are needed and why. You can find this on the NKF website and the link is below.

The results of these tests, as well as your other blood and urine labs, are the test results you need to bring with you, in most cases, when you see a retinal dietitian.

I just got back my most recent labs and for the first time in a long time, I found myself in the "normal range" in all of my labs. I still have another set of labs in three months so we'll see what happens then.

Congratulations on obtaining normal. I know you spend a lot of time researching and educating yourself and others about kidney disease and hopefully that has paid off.

Congratulations on your lab tests. I also have new results and have maintained the improvements I made. Just one question--what do you mean by "normal"--normal for a person with ckd or normal for the general population?

According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), normal lab test values are a set of upper and lower limits generally given as a range since normal values vary from person to person.

My "normal" results are within that range. In other words, the diet, exercise and medications (including supplements) I take have my blood and urine tests within that normal range. A couple are near the low end and one is near the high end but all are inside the range. I have a different set to be drawn in three months and I'm hoping for good news there as well.

Congrats to you keep it up my back started to hurt i don't know if its from my kidney or not since i never had any kind of reaction i don't know weather your back hurt or what i know every one is not alike so i don't no how you feel can anyone tell me

I've had pain off and on due to a bit too much physical activity but sometimes I believe it is related to my kidneys. If you are concerned about its possible causes I've included an article from Kidney Fund that may give you some direction to look into. Hope it helps.

I agree sir and I appreciate you. I wish you participate more. You wealth of knowledge is tremendous and I truly believe it people like you not the medical community that will eventually turn this disinformation and confusion and lack of professional knowledge around. If we had 100 advocates like you we’d be able to get a lot more done. ESP now the money is finally coming. I know you get frustrated when th me and I appreciate you keeping me in line all I want to do is help one person as I’ve seen this lack of professional responsibility or the snake oil guys cause an AKI in diagnosed COD patients. I appreciate your wealth of knowledge a willingness to share!
