Hi All

How do i work out how many calories i'm supposed to eat in a day to lose weight?

I'm 150cm, age 36 (37 in May), and weight is 143.5lbs.

I'd like to overall be 8.5stone, but my first target is 9 stone.

i read something about tdee's or bmr's or something but dont understand it totally.

This week i've started eating 1400 cals but unsure if thats too high, too low.

Thanks in advance :)

ps i do no exercise at the moment.

Hi sndkk,

Look back in the Questions blog and find "How many calories I burn a day".

However, note that Bkkbull's answer is about maintaining a current body weight, not losing weight.

So, I'd guess you need to work out your own situation and then take about 400 or 500 kcal off a day.

But also read the NHSChoices pages - I'm almost sure there's something on there about recommended calorie intakes for weight loss.

Thx Doikosp, was my first ever post so should have stated that to lose weight should then eat under that calculated amount, thx for clarifying that.
