Want to lose weight but don't want to sacrifice my weekend socializing!

I've struggled with my weight most of my life but really want to get to an healthy BMI. My problem is we have a very active social life and don't want to stop my visits to the pub! i have recently (meaning since the new year) started going to the gym about 3-4 times per week for about 50-60 mins then finish off the session by a 30-40 min swim, i also walk to and from work 3 times per week which is about 3 miles per day and i also have a dog that needs taking for a walk 2-3 times per day so i'm not in-active, I have a healthy diet (although my portion sizes are something i need to change!). I think my biggest problem is the lager i consume, i've tried changing my tipple for vodka n coke and wine spritzers but find i drink them like pop! and end up with a bad hangover :( I have just become a nanny for the first time and want to be fit and healthy so i can keep up with our grandson.

Got a holiday in May and i really want to have started to see a difference in my shape..........so here goes LET's Do This

'Fraid there's a bit of bad news about the alcohol, but I'll let you find that out for yourself.

Somewhere on the NHS pages - you'll probably have to use a search engine - there's an alcohol calorie counter.

On the plus side, I must admit having a dog keeps me on the go, even if I don't do any "proper" exercise, if you know what I mean.

The best approach is if you indulge - in whatever form it is for you - then the next day you need to pay back the account for the calorie intake.

Personally I've chucked the alcohol, along with the cakes and chocolate and similar stuff, at least until I'm down to where I ought to be in BMI terms ... which is about 20 kgs away at the moment.

Good luck with it all.

Are you following a weight loss plan?

Maybe try changing your plates to smaller ones, chew 20 times each bite and maybe do a week on week off on the alcohol.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the advice,

If i can loose 1lb per week i will be happy. I've lost the weight before by cutting out all alcohol but was not happy and didn't want to go out in case i had a drink!

My idea is to cut down how many lagers i have by having a soda water in between.

I'm basically following Slimming World but also using recipe ideas from NHS change for life plan.

I have purchased a small dinner plate for my portion size.

Batch cook so i can plan meals in advance.

* Up-date after 1st weigh in i've lost 3.5 lbs! :)

I've made the Mexican bean and tomato soup it was lovely and really quick nhs.uk/Change4Life/Pages/me...

Watch this space........

Good Luck everyone, let me know if you have any good recipes
