Hi Sue, well done for your weight loss and all those inches too. I haven’t been brave enough to measure myself yet. What sort of things have you been eating?

in reply to Pink4eva

Hi Pink4eva . Main meals are very low carb. No pasta, rice or potatoes in my diet at all now. So it'll be chicken or fish with a lot of veg. I might have a slice of toast for breakfast occasionally, or oatcakes with cheese (maximum of two per sitting!) The only fruit I have is strawberries or raspberries, and a bit of chocolate sometimes, again 2 squares max, quality dark choc. I eat it slowly, let it melt in the mouth! I also drink a lot of coffee but still with semi skimmed milk, and I still have the odd latte!

I do find I can let myself have the occasional treat, an ice cream say or a scone with jam. I don't binge and it helps me to keep going with the healthy eating the rest of the time. It's slow weight loss, but it works for me.

That sounds good, trouble is with me If I do have anything sweet, except mixed berries, I just want more and then I can easily revert to binge eating. I had a binge 6 days ago, chocolate. My OTH likes to take chocolate to bed, so I raided his stock. Back on track now though : )

in reply to Pink4eva

Sorry to hear you still struggle with the binging. I just don't know what advice to give you on that really. Get your other half to hide his chocolate stash!! But you have the right attitude, to keep going, and as long as you are eating good healthy foods the rest of the time I really think that is the main thing. xx

I do ask him to hide things sometimes, trouble is he likes to keep chocolate in the fridge. I have started going to the gym again now 4-5 days a week so that helps a lot. Hope you have another good week😊

Hi londonSue

Just interested in your change re fruit/carbs etc..what calories do you aim for each day and have they reduced on your latest eating plan.. I am reducing my carbs/fruit but when I do I struggle to get my 5 a day and full 1400 calories...

Thanks

in reply to Dorma123

I don't calorie count these days. I used to and it also worked well for me, I used the NHS BMI checker to find my BMI and recommended calorie range.

nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-we...

The NHS state 1400 on their weight loss plan and I don't know why, using the calculator is better and based on your stats. When I did calorie count I had about 1,600-1,800 per day, and I lost a stone and a half.

Now my diet is low carb and healthy fats. I have never been one to eat a lot of fruit, and you don't have to eat it to get 5 a day. There are plenty of the same nutrients in veg.

I hope that helps a bit?

That’s lovely to hear 😊I know it was a bit of trial and error to start with on low carb and it looks like you’ve nailed your new way of eating so really well done 👏 it’s great when those statistics start to change, isn’t it? 🥳

in reply to Sheperdess

Thank you Sheperdess Yes, I have found the confidence to do things that work for me. :-)

Well done that is a fantastic start, did u find it challenging?

in reply to Sandylane

Sometimes! It depends on so many factors sometimes, how you feel, what kind of day you're having, situations you find yourself in, ie someones birthday party or whatever. Overall not too bad, and I have dieted before. It's mostly about giving up the biscuits, cakes and chocolate bars! I found adjusting to low carb hard at first, so I do moderate low carb now, but as I say no carbs with my main meals at all, (other than the trace carbs that are in many foods)

Congrats Sue (fellow Londoner). I'm going for a new way of eating too - also not counting calories. It's working well for you!

in reply to PurpleRaine

Thanks! It's taken me a while to shift this half stone, two months, but it feels sustainable, and it is important to be able to keep going long term! I have definitely been less active because of lockdown etc. Much less walking and no swimming. I know people now say calories in/calories out isn't how it works, but personally I find exercise does help weight loss!
