On the hunt for a new salad dressing

Hi all,

I'm getting bored of having the same old Pizza Express House Light dressing on my lettuce leaves.

What are your favourite low calorie salad dressings?

Thanks in advance 😊

Hello,

I like this one:

A salad made of sliced fennel, sliced orange, with a dressing made with orange juice, apple cider vinegar, salt and pepper. Sometimes I use same dressing on chopped chicory and sliced apples.

Hope that helps?

Honestly, if you're trying to lose weight, I'd recommend avoiding fattening packaged products ("low fat" invariably means "high sugar" - check the ingredients). Try tastier/healthier things like this instead:

foodnetwork.com/recipes/ree...

It takes a bit of fiddling around, but it goes with lots of different things (try meatballs or Scotch eggs with your salad) and it'll keep in the fridge for a few days.

Here's a whole load of ideas from the recent mayo off ! :-) x

Same as Lytham. I make my own mayo and do various things with it: lemon zest and herbs, lovely fresh taste; spices, for coronation chicken or with spicy meat; half and half with full fat mayo as the base for coleslaw with red onion, red cabbage, carrot or whatever veg I have in. I discovered blue cheese dressing on the Mayo-off that Lytham has mentioned, above.

It's a long time since I bought low calorie anything and if you make a dressing yourself, you know what's in it and can adjust it to your taste

My favourite is honestly a teaspoon of olive with some lemon juice and then a bit of salt to taste. Keep it simple 😋

I like to use olive oil, balsamic vinegar or lemon juice.

I had a look at the ingredients in that dressing. While it's better than it could be, the main flavouring in it after oil and vinegar is sugar!

It's really easy to make a vinaigrette. Just get a screw top jar, put in oil and vinegar, and shake vigorously for a few seconds. Traditionally it's a ratio of 3:1 oil:vinegar, but if you want to make it lighter, you play with that ratio. You might want to add some water, if it's too sour.

Endless variety, I usually use extra virgin olive oil, but you can use other oils. Red and white wine vinegar, balsamic, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice can all be used. Add some garlic, mustard, salt, pepper, fresh or dried herbs etc. Keep it in the fridge, and just shake it before each use

I like a drizzle of Olive oil with a dash of either Cider vinegar or Balsamic Vinegar
