Feeling Motivated

PedallingMinstrel profile image

Well I finally lost another two pounds this morning but my weigh in was yesterday. I put a pair of jeans on to go out that I’ve not been able to wear for about a year . I am following the LCHF approach I’ve been on it four weeks and I’ve moved from 14 13 lbs to 13 12lbs this morning. I’ve still a stone and a half to go down to a healthy BMI recommended weight but it’s funny psychologically moving into the 13 stone bracket has been a great boost. Good luck everyone with your healthy eating and weight loss journeys.

My new mantra is: any period of time that weight stays the same is already brilliant, any loss, however, small - fantastic 😊

Absolutely Oh I agree it’s a funny thing your weight changes all the time, mine went up two pounds the other day and I had been good ! I think with time I’ll be more relaxed about it. I must convince myself I’m on this journey for the long haul if I am really going to take control of my weight and health.

This is exactly what I’m working on. It can’t be just the weight, can’t be the number of the scales. It has to be healthier lifestyle, better choices, happier life. Then things will be on the right path. It will be up and down, better days, worse days, but as long as the overall tendency is right, we will be fine 😊

PedallingMinstrel profile image
PedallingMinstrel in reply to N-o-r-d-i

Definitely once I am at my goal I think I will extend my food choices but still eat and drink healthily. I sing in pubs etc semi professionally and beer is often part of the deal. It’s easier with Lockdown as there has been no temptation but we are getting enquiries again now so I will have to hatch a plan.

N-o-r-d-i profile image
N-o-r-d-iMaintainer64kg in reply to PedallingMinstrel

I’m just counting calories, and not really restricting any foods, as long as I can still stay within my daily limit. Over the months my choices got much healthier as I prefer to have more food rather than a little bit of it with high calories 😊 I would look at a biscuit and would think: that means my dinner will be lighter, so do I really want it?..

if I were to go out for a drink, I would just leave extra calories for that, having lighter lunch and lighter dinner. Becomes sort of a habit after a while (I hope it remains) 😊 maybe planning on a drink or two on some of the nights would also work for you?

PedallingMinstrel profile image
PedallingMinstrel in reply to N-o-r-d-i

Oh definitely I would just opt for wine or shorts rather than beer

Wow JeffD that looks v tasty - cd eat that right now - evening munchies have set in - 2 satsumas aren't hitting the spot😐. You're on a roll! Great news on greeting the 13s and the smaller jeans - keep at it!

Thank you I am so pleased it seemed such a struggle for the last few weeks. Think with the LCHF you don't get the same hunger as when you're on carbs it seems to work for me anyway (at the moment) Good luck with yours.

That’s a fantastic loss (and a delicious salad!). I’m also on LCHF (3rd week). I don’t weigh myself for various reasons but really seeing the difference in how my clothes fit!

PedallingMinstrel profile image
PedallingMinstrel in reply to Missdoubleyou

Glad you’re noticing a difference I can’t see weighing scales so I have talking ones there is always enough pause to make me a little nervous before she announces my weight that morning! The fact you’re noticing a difference means it’s going well. Good luck with your healthy eating journey I wish you every success.

Missdoubleyou profile image
Missdoubleyou in reply to PedallingMinstrel

Good for you! My dad has a neurological disorder which means he can’t weigh himself and I think I might have the same. I can see how they can motivate though.

PedallingMinstrel profile image
PedallingMinstrel in reply to Missdoubleyou

I think if your clothes are not as tight and then fall off you’re going in the right direction so you feel lighter and have more energy numbers in a scale aren’t necessary

We will keep supporting each other. I also have alot to loss and I have broken it down to small achievable goals which has given me alot of motivation. Eg I have set myself to loss 5-7pds every two weeks and only weigh and measure myself then. Remember to reward yourself/celebrate every loss. We will get there. Good luck.

I dip in and out of the chats so have not actually joined the weigh in. I will keep posting any loss though at moment is very slow. Hopefully once swimming opens up again and I feel safe the weight might shift faster. Xx

PedallingMinstrel profile image
PedallingMinstrel in reply to purpleswimmer

Thing is you’re still focussed . Exercise helps and makes you feel better but it’s much better you choose something you like doing🦆I like my bike not really interested in weights or aerobics so I would nt do it. I saw a few fresh water swimmers in the sea the other day.. They say 85% of our weight loss is diet so it’s no problem. Good luck with it you’re obviously doing ok

Congratulations on the loss this week and overall and yes getting into that next bracket even if its only by half lb it is a boost 13st 13.5lbs sounds better than 14st. I'm actually only 4ft 11.5 inches and the 4 seems to make people think small so I've always said im 5ft it sounds SO much bigger LOL. That salad looks gorgeous

It's really great to go into a lower weight bracket, isn't it? Especially if, like me, one tends to hover for a while! I'm a big fan of LCHF, and it seems to be working for you too. Good luck on getting to the next milestone!

PedallingMinstrel profile image
PedallingMinstrel in reply to Kacey12

Thank you so much Kacey12 it’s a great boost. I felt things felt so slow and no doubt they will be again for a while. I don’t feel hungry all the time on LCHF as I did not calorie control diets. It seems to be working for me I can see why so many members of this group endorse it. Good luck on your healthy eating journey too !!

Congrats, is that an avocado I see in the pic. Just bought one myself, no idea what to do with it, I'm new here BTW. I'm currently at 14st will probably move to the 13s soon myself after been in the 14st's for about 2 1/2 months.

PedallingMinstrel profile image
PedallingMinstrel in reply to BJ2020

Hi BJ feel it to make sure it’s ripe. Slice it in half and separate

one side will have a stone in.

Scoop stone out stone with a small spoon. Going round the skin scoop out the flesh separating it from the skin 👍🏽 Good luck on your healthy eating journey and taming an avocado ! Hope you reach the 13 s soon I am using the LCHF approach and getting back on my bike. This is currently working for me.

You’re welcome if you like I’ll deal with a pineapple next week 😂😂

BJ2020 profile image
BJ2020 in reply to PedallingMinstrel

Haha, I just bought one of those today too.

Now they apparently are quite high in sugar content as are sweetcorn grapes oranges if you were strictly following the LCHF approach but it depends how strict you are being. To me they are all natural healthy foods so I don’t beat myself up about it, everything in moderation.

If ripe cut the green leaves off.

Slice it in big thick rings with peel still on

Trim the skin off each sliced ring that’s the easiest way 👍🏽

Well done jeffdavies123. You've motivated me too. Getting you to the stone bracket on the scales is a great achievement. Good luck.

Thank you Climb007 I’ve relaxed it a bit this weekend as my daughter and grandson are here back on it Sunday. I won’t go daft though. Good luck with your weight loss journey. I just need to convince myself this is it now for always it’s a life time change I am not going on a diet for a few weeks. I am going to permanently change the food and way I eat.
