Hello

I feel like I have been dieting all my adult life! I lost nearly 2 stone last year and promised myself I would never put it back on...

I have around 4.5 stone to lose. I enjoy running (sort of) and have been going 5 times a week between 4-12km since lockdown. My diet is mostly healthy, but I need to work on portions... and I enjoy drinking wine.... followed by crisps and peanuts!!! It’s during the evening that I lose willpower and struggle to stay on track.

I am going to calorie count and try eating a low carbohydrate diet. I am going to try some strength training a couple of days a week.

I’m feeling motivated. I have got to put the yo-yo diets behind me! I would love any advice, too tips and lots of encouragement would be amazing!

All the best and happy Monday everyone!

X

Hello. Sounds like you know exactly what to do and you seem to be quite active. I'm like you in as much as I like a drink in the evenings. Then I always want to munch on something. I swapped wine for vodka with zero sugar lemonade and found I didnt want to have so much of it. That stopped me snacking too. I also found something to do with my hands and it kept me occupied. Good luck..

Hi and welcome, Silverfields :)

My advice to you would be, stop dieting and start eating real food, don't count calories, if you're going to be reducing your carbs. Be guided by this healthunlocked.com/api/redi...

If evenings are a problem for you, then go for a run/walk at that time and go home for a long bath and early to bed, until you get out of the habit of wine and snacks.

All of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and I hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially a weigh-in and the daily diary.

If you haven't already taken it, here's a tour of the forum healthunlocked.com/?tour=true

We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.

Wishing you all the best :)

Thanks moreless

I really like the Real Food Lifestyle for Weght Loss. It’s clear and looks straightforward to follow.

What’s your view on oats and whole meal bread and rice, if you stay within the 130g of carbs per day?

I personally don't eat bread, rice, or oats, I get all of my carbs from vegetables

I would favour bulgur wheat, quinoa and higher carb veggies (not potatoes)

If you must have bread, then make it yourself. Most shop bought bread is highly processed and whole meal isn't much different to white.

Thanks. I’ll give bulgur wheat a try. 💐

Beer wine crisps and nuts were my downfall. I’ve taken up cycling again for my exercise I’m 66 with dodgy hip and knees so I can’t really run anymore. I’ve about the same as you to lose. However I’ve lost 11lb in four weeks My fitness level has come back and I look forward to going out on the bike. I’ve gone down the LCHF route this time. Largely because I don’t want to calorie count. My brother talked me into cutting out carbs and he’s lost lots of weight and he is five years older than me. I am still finding things out about it. Wine has a low carb value ! You are encouraged to eat nuts ! Win win Silver ! Good luck on your journey whichever route you choose.
