Everyone has bad days Jo, can you identify a reason? If I get too hungry or too tired I struggle. Are you eating enough? Are you getting enough sleep?

I don't know why perhaps just one of those days or two x

What plan are you following? Are you calorie counting? What’s your allowance? Have you run the NHS BMI checker for your own personal calorie target? Under eating is the single biggest cause of weight loss failure

Also what type of foods are you eating? Some foods cause hunger faster than others, have a look at this healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

And as Bridgegirl says, use the forum! There’s lost going on 👍

Jo, are you going to start joining some of the forum activities? I think you'll find more chat there than doing stand alone posts. Have a look at the Daily Diary, Nutty Natterings and the Jailbreak Challenge.

Hi Jo, if any comfort, I have been snorfling (every day since Easter Sunday) chocolate, cheddar, crumpets, home baking, bread with everything. And I have put on 2lbs just since then. Your one bag of chocolate peanuts seem disciplined to me!

Yesterday, I decided to go back to moderate LCHF eating, IF (no eating between 9pm and 9am - that's major for me), and cut right back on carbs at all meals. I must say that keeping a food diary with calorie count and carb count really helps to stay on track. Also the weekly weigh-in, and the daily food diary here - last summer I lost 8lbs between July and September, didn't believe it was possible post-menopause and with limited exercise - but it happened! Good luck to you and just 'do the next right thing'.

Well done Jo - that phrase 'do the next right thing' (for you of course), will really help. And I know that after ONE day back on track I feel better about myself, so I'm glad to hear that you will persevere - you can do it! x

Hi Jo,

Think about what it was that got you to eat the whole bag. I know before I started on my weightloss journey that I could have eaten the same equivalent ( don't eat peanuts) and once you start it can be hard to stop as emotion then comes into play whether it's feeling good about the taste or bad about putting weight on. So, for me, get a plan LCHF, calorie counting etc and then go with it. When you do the shopping get alternatives that help your weightloss, if you don't do the shopping, ask who ever does to stick to what is on the list. Lockdown has pros and cons and I believe the trip to the shops/or delivery is where we can help or hinder our weight loss. I am not able to go in the supermarket because only one person per household can so, if it's not on the list, my son isn't getting it.

You have made yourself a teacake to help so it sounds like you are back on track. I aren't celiac but,

I am wheat and dairy free and losing weight and thought I would struggle to loose weight.

Hi Jo,

I follow slimming world myself but a few people on here follow LCHF like slim_ for_good who has given you lots of information on the plan.

For me, it's find a plan that fits for you. I am vegetarian, wheat and dairy free so LCHF isn't my choice.

Low Carb High Fat

- it is a big change for most of us

- it’s easy because you don’t have to be hungry

- but it’s involves planning & cooking

- however, you get to eat double cream

- you lose your taste for sweet stuff (well lots of people do)

Www.carbdodging.com explains the science & why it works.

In short, don’t eat any sugar, potatoes, pasta, rice, fruit except berries in moderation, vegetables grown below the ground (except a bit of onion). Also - and this was the big shocker for me - don’t eat those fancy ancient grains like quinoa, bulgarwheat, spelt & freekah. Only eat full fat dairy, no low fat as that has lots of milk sugars. Wallow in meat, eggs, cheese, Greek yoghurt, olive oil, and loads of green veg. And did I mention the cream? I eat a lot of seeds too as my guts miss whole grains, but maybe that’s too much info. There are people here who have lost loads of weight on it, without being hungry, eg my inspirational friend Subtle_badger .

There are different levels & ways of doing it. Some people start with a very strict ‘keto’ phase of a couple of weeks, with under 20g of carbs a day. It can cause a headachy, flu like feel, but it gets quick results, and then you can increase to 50-80g a day. Other people just reduce their carbs to 100-150g a day & see gradual results. I personally am too lazy to weigh anything & just cut out obviously carby things.

You can also combine LCHF with eating in a narrower window of the day, say by skipping breakfast.

Lots of recipes on dietdoctor.com

There’s a LCHF forum on HU.

AND there is emerging evidence that it reduces metabolic disease, including diabetes & pre diabetes, which in turn reduces risk of dying of COVID19. Dr David Unwin is a leading researcher/practitioner in this.
