Hi everyone, I’m new here!!

Anyway It was hard losing weight, as I’m severely depressed and tend to eat when having a depression and anxiety attacks.

But i did it, not in the most healthy way, I starved myself which lead to a hair loss and gastritis (I’ve treated my hair successfully but gastritis is chronic now), so my weight isn’t stable i keep on bouncing back from 66 to 68kg, i now want to lose weight the right way.

Any suggestions?

I too lost significant weight. I’ve gone up and down by 100 pounds. Currently I’m the fittest I’ve ever been after 6 years but it was slow loss of 65 lbs. I would say I’ve learned slow change is sustainable change. Diets don’t work. I try to incorporate small healthy changes to nutrition and exercise everyday and practice, practice, practice. I’m 42 and still learning as I go to take care and appreciate the body I’m in.

I’m very glad you are taking good care of your body, good for you, you really deserve it!

That’s what I’m aiming to achieve, lose weight the healthy way, even though i can’t force myself to exercise daily atm, but when i feel somewhat okay i dance🤷🏻‍♂️ (it also helps with overthinking).

Thanks for taking your precious time to reply to me, I appreciate it ❤️

When I started the weight loss my trainer taught me 85% of weight loss is due to proper nutrition. However my nutrition choices are interconnected with my emotions. I have depression and anxiety. It wasn’t until I did therapy to process through past trauma that I was able to focus on taking proper care of my body. Then I really learned how to stay motivated for meal prep, eating 6 small meals a day and drinking sufficient water. Exercise will change the shape of your body but proper nutrition is what I still focus on most. I’m absolutely still very much a work in progress 😊

I’m still figuring it out. Thanks for your post. Really helps to hear your journey too 😊

Many of us here follow Low Carb High Fat. It works because it gets your metabolic hormones into balance. If you eat a lot of carbs over time, you produce a lot of insulin, and insulin suppresses your other metabolic hormones. We have a hormone leptin that is supposed to match our appetite to our fat stores. Big tum? Step away, from the pies. And you burn your fat stores for energy instead. Insulin, from eating a lot of carbs prevents Leptin from working. So we are pretty hungry despite big tummies full of energy. Also eating a lot of sugar & refined carbs like white bread, pasta & rice makes you crave more & more. Cut out the sugar, the white carbs, and reduce your other carbs considerably, WHILE ALSO having fats in your diet like avocado, cheese, red meat, eggs & not going at all hungry, hey presto, your appetite drops & you lose all those cravings. It’s very effective, but it’s not a weird tip diet!

Two websites to tell you more: carbdodging.com & dietdoctor.com & there’s a low carb high fat community here too.

Another way to reduce your insulin levels, get your appetite into balance & burn your fat, is to be have a longer period in the day when you don’t eat. It’s called Intermittent Fasting. Most people do it by skipping breakfast, then moving to one meal a day (OMAD). This isn’t something I do myself but S11m can tell you more. He has lost a lot of weight & is now a racing cornflake.

The important thing about both these approaches & is that you stop worrying about how much you eat or calories, but you think about what you eat & when.

What will help you with this would be joining the daily diary which gets you to plan your meals in advance & get support from others.

Yeah Low Carb High Fat, i tried following it a month ago, and it helped but i only lasted for 2 weeks.

Also did IF for a year maybe.

Thank you for sharing this information with me, and explaining everything in great details!

I’ll try participating in the events everyone here mentioned!!

Thank you very much!

It was a roller coaster, I’ve lost 10kg then gained back 5, and then pulled myself together and lost all 20kg.

Great suggestions, i need this kind of stuff and participations atm.

Hi, SoniaGorgeous , welcome.

Keeping the weight off can be the hardest part.

If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.

Some of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:

Newbies IF FAQ:
