Losing Weight

Hello, I have been exercising (cross-arm mainly) about 30-40min 5-6 days a week for the last 2 months. I have lost only 100g of weight which is discouraging. My calories intake is not much, I am not a junk food lover. Not sure what is wrong.

Hi, AKhursheed , welcome.

Exercise can help weight loss.

If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.

Some of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:

AKhursheed - Lots of questions to try and understand why your weight loss hasn't been as much as you would like.

What is your activity level like outside of your exercise session? Are you active in your everyday life, or do you have a sedentary (desk) job?

You say your "calorie intake isn't much"... do you keep a log of the food that you eat and weigh out portion sizes?

The amount you consume also has to be based on your height, gender, age and activity level.

For a long time, I couldn't understand why I ate healthily and was so overweight.... but then I started to write everything down and weigh out recommended "portion sizes" (as found on food packaging). Suddenly it dawned on me that my portion sizes were far too large for a very short, mostly sedentary woman in her 40's!

Don't forget that things like alcohol can be quite calorific and need to be added to your calorie intake.

Hello AKhursheed and welcome to this Forum 🤗

We lose more weight by careful choice of what we eat than by exercise, valuable though exercise is, but you have come to the right place for ideas and support so dont give up but explore and learn and share on here.

Here's a link to our Site Guide which we strongly recommend you read as it will help you find your way about the Forum and provides other links on security, picture guides on navigation and other useful info'

Please note, don't use the HU App, it is much easier to use the website!

healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

There's a lot there but it's worth taking your time to read, honest!

We recommend that members join a Weekly Weigh-In, on the day of your choice, and also use the Daily Diary, where members share their meal plans and get useful feedback. They are found under Pinned Posts or Events(see site guide link above)

A special feature of our Forum is the degree of support between members which you will experience (and add to yourself !) as you join in and chat with others.

All the best on your weight-loss journey ! 😊

You're probably not eating enough. If you're calorie counting, see what range the NHS BMI calculator suggests for you and aim for the middle of that range :)
