Hello and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum yvon29

You will have been given links to Pinned Posts when you first joined so please read these fully as they will guide you around the workings of this Forum.

You are not alone in feeling overwhelmed and unsure where to start. This post really helped me make sense of things healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

This is a very busy forum with lots going, and nothing beats joining in, reading posts and replying to others. Our group Weigh-in and the Daily Diary are probably the best places to start.

Best Wishes in your weight loss journey

I have just changed my diet to a plant based diet for weight loss and my health. I watched a programme on Netflix called - What the Health - and that was it! I thought I would find it hard but I actually have not craved any animal products once. There are so many alternatives in the supermarket. I have lost 1 stone in 4 weeks, have loads of energy and have not felt better in my life! I highly recommend!

Hello and welcome Shawshank72

Well done on making successful changes to your life 👍. Any way of eating that increases proper food and vegetables is excellent, with or without meat.

You will also have been given links to pinned posts so please read them carefully

Best wishes

Hi I am also following a plant based whole food diet and started feeling better, I still like milk in tea and butter but I am working on cutting these out too. My doctor said a plant based diet is good for losing weight and I need to lose 3 stone at least she said. I watched dr john mcdougalls starch solution and read his book and this has helped me in the past lower my weight. It is a vegan type diet, I believe in being kind to animals personally and don't want to eat them, have a great day! xxxx

You may not have realised this is a year old post and you may not get a response.

Why not log onto our Daily Diary, where we have several vegetarians and vegans and tomorrow's Daily Chat will be all about plant based eating :)

Hi, yvon29 , welcome.

If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.

Some of us here find that what works "like a magic wand" is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:

I can relate as 6 months ago I felt physically troubled by my body weight and wanted to lose around 7 stone.

With 4 stone lost and starting a 'Couch to 5k' running programme (from huffing and puffing just walking, at the start) I know it's achievable.

On top of all the great advice here, I'd add, focus on 1lb at a time. 6 stone is a huge goal. 1lb a week (even if you don't make it) gives focus and direction.

And then it's just a matter of time and keeping doing it. Good luck.
