Middle age spread

Hi I’m 49 years old and have recently gained a lot of weight due to depression. I have my own horse so I am very active but as I’ve got older I find it much harder to shift the weight.

I know a lot of my eating is emotional happy, sad, dressed you name it so just looking for some emotional support to stay on the weight loss track.

Thank you for the encouragement I definitely think the peri menopause has a lot to do with it although I keep telling everyone I’m too young for it lol

Well done on the loss I think I’ve finally realised diet clubs and fads are not for me just slow steady lifestyle changes

Exactly! Just as you need it. I’m sick of dieting. No more. Better choices with odd treat in it & move more.

Absolutely it’s the only way! I found moving more and more (mostly walking and swimming) got me through the menopause. I could just be lucky but my mum and grandma both had a terrible time and were always great ones for Having a Rest whenever they felt bad, instead of moving- so maybe it’s not just a coincidence. Best of luck sounds like you’re ready for a great 2020!

It’s been hard. Anxiety the worst for me. My mam had lots of physical things go wrong with peri. So I’ve been lucky that way. But def agree gym & walking has helped loads.

Really sorry you’ve been anxious. Have you had support for that?

I’m on a low dose antidepressant for it. It’s helped a lot. I just don’t like going out on an evening socially. But honestly don’t feel I’m missing much nowadays. I’m ok in small groups & day time going out. Thank you

I so know where you are coming from as I to have suffered anxiety due to peri menopause- it’s pants ain’t it! I went into St Johns wort but was recently told to stop as I was getting pigmentation all over my face.

Wishing you well on your new journey x

Go old-school - eat better, exercise more, the way you can. All the best!

I am sure alot of us can relate to your post and say ditto!! It is easy to gain weight and much harder to lose at this age, but it is a fact not an excuse, that is my view. If you haven't already done so, read the recommendations posted by the admin team. I have been following the Low carbohydrate high fat diet since late November, with a bit of slippage to accommodate Christmas. In this time I have lost 4 lbs and not put weight on over the holidays..... The first time since the menopause. I intend to start in earnest tomorrow and have joined the no junk January group. I want to lose a stone in 2020 . Reply to posts, it is very motivational reading individuals challenges and sharing experiences and tips. Good luck.
