Feeling frustrated

I haven't posted in over six months in that time I managed to lose only another 9ilb but for the whole of December I didn't weigh myself and I did just now and found out I'd put on half a stone!!!

This puts me back to hardly any progress in half a year!

I was going to wait until new years to start again so that I could eat the last of the Christmas bits but after that shock I've decided to start my new years resolutions early. All the unopened sweets are going to the food bank now 😥.

My new years resolutions are:

To give up chocolate, ice cream and biscuits

And to do some form of high intensity exercise everyday

I know that for me it's easier to give something up entirely than to have it in moderation and those are my biggest downfalls so hopefully it will help. The exercise will be more difficult mainly just down to motivation , I go for an hour's walk every other day which I hope to keep up too.

Any advice or support could really help at the moment.

Welcome back, Strawberrybunny :)

My tips would be:-

- build 15 mins into each day to come here, read what people are posting, chat and encourage others

- join a weekly weigh-in one the day of your choice: the team support is second to none

- have a look at the Daily Diary, where members log their meal plans and join in when you're ready: I believe the saying is, 'fail to plan and you plan to fail'

- find exercise that you enjoy: walking is great and if that fits into your day, go for that; in terms of weight loss, it's far less important than what and how you eat so don't go forcing yourself to do something you hate: it won't last and you'll just feel bad about yourself.

This will help you find the weigh-in etc healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

I look forward to seeing you at a weigh-in in the next few days :)

Hardly any is still some!

You're back in the right place and you know what your weaknesses are and that's the big thing.

Lots of good advice, especially the weekly weigh in. In a bad week it may seem easier to skip but it does keep you focussed and stops the big slide.

Good luck!

So you are starting 2020 weighing less?? I call that a win 😊👍👏. Wish I could say the same!

It’s a bit of cliche but there’s no point looking backwards, your not going that way 😊

Thanks, you made me feel a bit better about it😊

It may not be all actual fat - I find that yummy Christmas food has more of the stuff that makes us retain water. A few days of eating healthy stuff & drinking loads of water will flush things out & see your scales head south again.

I'm hoping that that's the case I've definitely had more sodium and more sugar this week than I have in ages it got to the point where I didn't even like it anymore we just didn't have any healthy food in the house!

I’ve just gone to get a pint of water myself.... weirdly I think it can be helpful to eat so much rubbish we long for wholesome - helps kick start a new chapter. I managed to resist all the cakes/choc/mince pies in the office in December & don’t go to many Christmas parties, but once 20 Dec arrived I started to eat ALL the crisps...

I think a lot of people are the same at Christmas, I know what you mean about craving healthier food the thought of another pringle is making me feel I'll lol

in reply to Strawberrybunny

I can always resist a Pringle. Pringles = palm oil = rainforest deforestation 😔. Kettle chips? That’s another matter...

I think you are absolutely on the nailwith this one!

Hi, Strawberrybunny , welcome back.

If you "slim smart" weight loss is not so hard! It is not all about motivation and masochism.

Some of us here find that what works, particularly for weight-loss plateaux, is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:
