Tortoise and Hare Running Club. 11th - 17th November 2019

Hi everyone! Welcome to the Tortoise and Hare Club. This is my very first time hosting.

This is where we share our running or walking experiences over the last week. Whether a Tortoise or a Hare, please tell us what your plans are and we’ll support you!

This week I’m ill and coughing so I didn’t run at all. 😕 I only cycled to and from my daughter’s kindergarten and I coughed the whole way. Hopefully I’ll get better next week.

I added a picture of Schliersee in Bavaria, Germany. This is where I run a 10km every year. It’s a beautiful but hard run in the hills/ mountains. Every year I am in the last 10 participants to finish this run and I need around 1 hour and 10 minutes to finish it. I’m very curious to see how fast I’ll run it in May 2020.

Last week I managed a small run and I already felt so much lighter on my legs!

I’m looking forward reading about your running/walking stories!

Have a nice week!😊

Irir

Guten morgen Iris! Und vielen dank for hosting.. I love the picture - it makes me want to visit Schliersee. It looks so pretty (but very hilly for running!).

I'm sorry to hear you have been feeling ill and hope that the cough goes soon - how frustrating! Well done on managing a small run and also cycling to the nursery.

I did 3 runs this week. The first 2 were around 5km around a local park (very autumnal and pretty). The third one was shorter (about 3km) but a lot faster. I was feeling a bit tired and I took a different route which involved running down a hill. Gravity helped me run faster but I didn't go my full usual distance. I did enjoy running faster though... quite exhilarating to just go for it!

I'm aiming for another 3 runs this week and am hoping for some sunshine as it is getting a lot colder in the UK now.

Here's to a great week everyone! ☀️

Hello Seuzan! Guten Morgen, Bonjour and goede morgen, 😂

I’m actually French, married to a Dutch man and living in Germany. I used to live in the UK when I was a student.

You did really great with your 3 runs this week! I hope you’ll get some sunshine next week. Here at the moment it’s sunny but very cold.

Have a nice week! ☀️

HI Seuzan 3 times per week and more than 13 km sounds excellent to me 👍 ( I am very happy with my 3,5 km non-stop) I have just begin running this summer !!

Hi everyone!! and thanks Madameirir for hosting !!

I am new to this club. I joined weight loss and Couch to 5k forums almost at the same time this summer, and I have been following the C25 program since then ... now I am in week 7, running 25 minutes non-stop so I begin to consider myself a "runner", even at my slow "happy turtle" pace.

My goal is to run 2 times per week but I must admit that most of the weeks I can only manage one run (so it is taking me ages to complete the C25K program !!).

I also go to rollerskating once per week and dance two times per week so I do plenty of exercise apart from running.

Hidden Sorry to hear you've been ill but this is winter time !!. Sure next week you can do plenty of km.

in reply to xx2000

Running 25 minutes non-stop is a great achievement. Nice that you exercise a lot! 👍😊

The C25K programme is great - that's what got me running also. Well done on reaching week 7 - you have done the hardest bits really and are now just building on all the progress made so far.

Rollerskating and dancing are such fun ways to get fit!

Looking forward to celebrating when you reach week 9 - it is such a brilliant achievement.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this group of the walking and running.

I'm very sorry to hear you are feeling unwell and hope you feel better soon!

Over a month ago I started running again and loved it but unfortunately my choice of shoes weren't great and I pushed the miles too quickly resulting in a sprained ankle which hurt for weeks and I could barely walk on it. This got better and I don't feel pain now.

Today I wanted to take my aunt's dog for a near 1 hour walk around the park. However I just had an urge to run (jog) and did some of this with the dog mixed with walking, at some points we were practically sprinting. I felt great doing it and love this kind of exercise, however unfortunately I could feel the pressure on my ankle again so realise this will need to stop ☹️

Hoping to take it easy over the next few weeks and just build up my walking, no matter how tempted I am to run 😂

I hope everyone has a good week 🙂🌺

Wellcome!! Sorry to hear that you have ankle problems. Just take It easy and go back slowly to jog. A nice walk is also a good exercise !!!

Lulu99 in reply to xx2000

Thank you 🙂 yes going to have to force myself to take it slow so I don't regress in getting the ankle better. Have a good week

in reply to Lulu99

Hello Lulu,

It’s great that you started to run again! Very well done! 👍 Take your time for your ankle. Walking is a very good exercise and preparation to build up your walking/ brisk walking and running.

Have a nice week too!😊

Thank you,I'm going to take it slow and build up again even if I really want to run 😂

in reply to Lulu99

I really understand how you feel... it’s frustrating to take it slow when you really want to run, but it’s for the best!😊

Lulu99 in reply to

Yes definitely. Well I managed to stop walking for a few weeks so I know I have the discipline to do it, just have to be longer walks with the dog 🙂

in reply to Lulu99

Nice and good luck !🍀 😉
