You've been given sound advice for losing weight and building muscle safely and steadily, vanillasnackpack. No-one here would be willing to advise anyone to get skinny quick, least of all a 16 year old.

Reconsider your goals, or you'll end up with a lifetime of yoyo dieting, bingeing and starving and becoming morbidly obese, like I did!

Hi vanillasnackpak,

What is your BMI? Why do you want to get skinny and train afterwards? I would agree with moreless more or less (pun intended) but you haven't specified the weight or the timeframe you want to lose it so in order to get specific advice you need to give more details about current state and desired results.

One thing I can tell you for sure, is that the approach lose weight-train after is not going to help your case. Losing weight while training will help you get the best results. When you exercise and build muscles, those muscles will boost the fat burn process, the fittest we are the more calories we burn. Inactive lifestyle in combination with a diet will only slow down your progress and chances are that you will get disheartened and feel disappointed.

Start with some sort of light activity, and gradually build up. As for the diet, depending on what you want to achieve, set clear and realistic targets.

There is so much information out there which sometimes can get overwhelming but if you follow some simple principles you can get the results.

1. Aim for protein-fats-carbs-fiber in each meal

2. Increase your fiber intake (fruits-veggies-pulses)

3. Stay hydrated

4. Sleep well

5. Track your food

6. Be patient

7.Stick to a diet that is sustainable and monitor your progress.

I think it goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. Processed sugars, are no go when you are dieting so replacing them with natural whole foods will help you stay consistent.

Lastly, the equation is pretty simple : Calories in-calories out=result

Good luck!

There are no fast safe routes to weight loss, vanillasnackpack. If there were, don’t you think someone, somewhere would be making an absolute fortune out of them?!

If you need to lose weight, focus on doing it slowly in a way you can sustain long term. I’m sure the Admin people here will have given you lots of sound advice already. Once you have got that sorted out, then maybe look at muscle building. Take it from dozens if not hundreds of people on this forum, who have taken years to discover this!
