I went to slimmers world from 2008 until just after christmas this year and while I was working every think was fine but I gained weight at christmas and could not lose it .in the finer weather it is not a problem I get a lot of exercise every day working in the garden but in the winter i tend to stagnate a bit,I do get quite a bit of exercise I still have to keep the garden tidy picking up leaves and apples and cleaning and my wife is disabled so I have to make sure she is ok I am nearly 74 and have osteoarthritis almost every where and do not eat excessively I gave up slimming world as I do not think it was doing any good it seems the older I get the harder it is to keep my weight under controle

Hi, blueatwho , welcome.

I am 70.

I am now able to exercise, but I was able to lose weight when I was disabled.

It is more difficult to lose weight (or maintain a weight loss) at this time of year.

Weight loss is not all about motivation and masochism - if you "slim smart" it is not so hard!

Many of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:

I am always hungry in winter but find this is the time to make veg rich soups . Lazy me usually throws away the chicken carcass but boiled for half hour it makes great stock to

add to a stew pack and a handful of greens . I usually make in the morning. Tea done and just reheat so if I have to go out in awful

weather I am not tempted to oven cook a load of frozen food
