Hi all. I’m mum of 4 and nanny to 6. I am a yo-yo dieter and would love to lose my excess weight and inches and keep it off.

Good to see you both linking up :) If you both join the weigh in on the same day, you could be long term support for each other :)

Hello and welcome, Symmo 😊

Here's some vital reading for you, given your history of yoyo dieting. It's helped many of us turn things round.

phcuk.org/wp-content/upload...

This is a busy place with loads of support and information to help you on your way. You'll have received a Welcome message with links to our Pinned Posts. Do read them, particularly the Welcome Newbie post, which explains how the forum works, and the Security/Privacy information which explains how and why to lock your posts (I see yours is unlocked).

I recommend joining in as much as possible, particularly with a weekly weigh in on the day of your choice, and using the Daily Diary, where members log their meal plans and get useful feedback.

To make the most of the forum, come here often, read and reply to posts, ask questions and encourage others – it will all pay off for you 😊

Hi, Symmo , welcome.

Weight loss is not all about motivation and masochism - if you "slim smart" it is not so hard!

...and yes, keeping it off can be as hard as losing it - but, when you get down to your target weight, you can join the maintainers' group for monthly weigh-ins and maintenance support.

Many of us here find that what works is a combination of The Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet (see the forum here on Health Unlocked) and Not Snacking All Day AKA Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:

Thank you for this. I am trying to get my head around this. Would you suggest getting used to LCHF first before introducing IF?

Hi, Symmo ...

If you are not very ill (e.g. acute cancer or diabetes) it is best to transition into LCHF and IF, but you can do both at the same time - if you have been snacking in the evening, start by setting a time in the evening after which you do not eat.

If you have any other questions - please get back to me.

You might like to join the lchf forum too ... some posts to browse through are here:

healthunlocked.com/lchf-die...

There's loads more direct support on the forum which supplements the "fasting and furious" site .. the two don't have to go together but you should read up on both ... you're changing a lifestyle so it's pretty useful to know how and why! :)

I have been a yo yo dieter for all my life, I am now 71 so as far as I am concerned if this will be my last shot. So far I have lost 2st 1ib I think that is enough for now. I lost it with S.W. and am now a target member. The Doctor can give you 12 weeks free if you need to lose weight for your health. I feel a lot fitter since losing weight. Good luck to you in your weight loss journey.
