Not the most exciting collage, but I’m pretty proud of it! I went for a run yesterday without my running watch and felt like I was running at my normal comfortable pace through most of it. I had coaching from my running app, and at mile 6 it did make me run faster for brief intervals. I was surprised to hit my fastest km, mile, 5k and 10k during my longest run to date of 10.25 miles. For any new runners out there, this is NOT the way to run your longest run, but as I didn’t try to do it and I felt comfortable throughout, I’m happy.

This is about running, but it’s not about running. Last year I couldn’t pick up socks from the floor without getting out of breath. Through better nutrition and some hard work I can now do 90 minutes of cardio non stop. Eat well, move more, and all your dreams are achievable. I’ve had some bad times on my journey, some days where I could happily have gone for an all you can eat buffet and sat there all day... but they don’t matter so much as the fact that over months and years I’m moving in the right direction. Never be upset that you didn’t achieve something or get the result that you want, just be positive that you can make any changes needed to have a better outcome in time.

Thanks. I’ve always told people “don’t look back” but now I advise the opposite, it’s good to see how far we’ve come.

Wow, I didn't know your story UNM. That's a tremendous achievement. Well done on every step of your journey.

Thanks. The support on HU really helps with everything... don’t like to think where I’d be without it!

Thank you... I was in shock when I saw the stats yesterday. Strange thing is I know I can beat them all in separate runs, in theory at least.

Inspiring stuff - can't wait for the pic of u on finishing line! (And what the stats have to say about it!) :)

I don’t tend to post the stats... I put the same collage up yesterday on a running forum as an example of how not to do the long run... it should have been at a relaxed pace. However, as was pointed out to me, I didn’t try to go faster, it just happened. That said... there will be pictures on the day, and they’ll be part of my collage for the week here.

We are all on an ultramarathon even if we are not runners... all our journeys are one step at a time... exercise should increase gradually... weight should be shed slowly... and the journey is really endless as it continues long after we hit our goals. Having fun reaching goals means you’re making the journey in the best way for you... and that means it’ll not only be a successful journey, but it will also remain one.

Happy healthy living.
