Hello, ansucre30, and welcome 😊

I'm sure having a one year old keeps you busy and active. As for food choices, I suggest go for fresh food, home cooked, plenty of veg, eggs, dairy, some fish and meat, if you aren't vegetarian. Avoid processed stuff, and that includes anything labeled low fat or light or diet as they're all heavily processed. That will be a good approach for your little one, too :)

This is a busy place with loads of support and information to help you on your way and we've put everything you need into this Welcome Newbies post. healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... I recommend joining a weekly weigh in and using the Daily Diary.

Please also read this information about security/privacy, especially as you have left your post unlocked healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

You may well find others similar to you or who can remember that stage so do make the most of the forum, join in with activities, read and reply to posts, ask questions and encourage others – it will all pay off for you 😊

Hi and welcome Ansucre. My children are teenagers but I remember how difficult it was for me to lose the extra weight I gained through both pregnancies.

Back then I followed a programme that emphasised lots of vegetables (I had to eat 600g pr day) and lots of protein in the form of meat, eggs, fish and beans. Very little carbs in the form of bread, pasta, rice, potatoes and the like, and two spoonfuls of fat per day in the form of oil, butter or full fat mayo. It worked but was too restrictive to me. I missed fruit and dairy products and the idea of never having alcohol was also unsustainable for me in the long run after I stopped breastfeeding. So I had to adapt he programme to my life style. But the overall principles stuck with me.

I still restrict my intake of starchy carbs and up my intake of protein and vegetables when I want to lose weight. And it still works :) I learned to count calories when I was introduced to the NHS 12 week plan a couple of years back, and that has been an eye opener for me!

I agree with BridgeGirl that you should focus on natural, unprocessed foods. And I would like to add that you should take it slow, don’t do anything drastic and be good to yourself!
