Logging in again to this lovely forum with the same issue I had on joining over 4 years ago. Where to start? At the beginning is always a good place I suppose, wiping the slate clean and mentally โ€˜deletingโ€™ what has gone before. So today, Thursday 26th September 2019, is a new book of my life, the chapters yet to unfurl reflecting an older and different me to past pages in past books. It is up to me to make this new book so gripping I wonโ€™t want to put it down. First page turned.......

Hello, ShellieL, and welcome back ๐Ÿ˜Š

Good idea, starting with a clean slate. Have you decided on a plan yet? Maybe something different from last time, something you'll be able to stick to and enjoy for life. Steer clear of diets as, by their nature, they're time limited.

Here are a couple of things to read that could offer a different approach

Hey hun, don't look back, what is important is that you have the guts to start again. I am in the same boat, got a few stone to lose, and decided today to put up my big girl pants (and I do mean big girl!) ๐Ÿ˜ณ and to do something about it. Good luck, you can do it! xx

in reply to MamaIce

Although Iโ€™m not as big as when i first joined this forum 4 years ago, i have put most of the few stone lost back on. Last time I wanted to lose 100lb, this time only ( ONLY!! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ) 80lb. I gave up/life got in the way etc... etc... last time after losing 40lb. โ€˜tis in the past now, not going to dwell, onwards....๐Ÿ˜Š

Thank you for coming back to the forum, I hang around this lovely group in order to motivate myself to keep the weight off, I regained a couple of pounds on holiday this year. it was hard enough to change my habits and lose the weight but keeping at a new stable weight is still a daily challenge.

Thankfully knowledge about our metabolism and what our bodies do in response to the food we eat, has changed drastically in the past 4 years.

This means that losing and keeping weight off should be a bit easier now and there is no need to feel hungry.

We have wonderful volunteer administrators and embassadors, please read all their links at the beginning , I didnโ€™t and wished I had later!

Wishing you every success with your new goals.

Hi Alsiongold, is it time to swap to a Maintainer badge and join the Maintainers' Club? There's a new post each month, running throughout the month so you can dip in and out. Have a look at the current one in Pinned Posts and see if it's for you. There are some very experienced, long-term maintainers there

Thanks, I will have another look, I kept missing the monthly weigh in date, my work pattern is very irregular.

The Maintainers Club runs for the whole month Alison, as usual itโ€™s in Pinned Posts and September runs for another week ๐Ÿ˜Š

Frustratingly it is not showing on my pinned posts , even when I open see all, it could be because I use an i-pad. I need to search and then sometimes find it.

Alisongold profile image
AlisongoldRestart June 2023 in reply to Alisongold

Now found Maintainers under Topics rather than Pinned Posts, thanks!

Thatโ€™s odd . . . I use an iPad too. Are you seeing Pinned Posts on the right hand side of the screen on the forum Homepage? You should then be able to select โ€œsee allโ€ as only the first five posts are visible (there are 21 Pinned Posts in total) We have another member struggling in a similar fashion, so if this is a glitch on the site we need to let HU know.

Alisongold profile image
AlisongoldRestart June 2023 in reply to IndigoBlue61

Thank you for your patience, I can only see the first 5 pinned posts, see all does not open any further pinned posts.

I deleted the app some time ago to avoid any conclusion, I usually access this site from the daily e-mails that I receive on my I-pad.

Have you looked at the pictorial guide? The 'see all' that can be seen is for polls, not Pinned Posts.

Have a look at the pictorial guide here, Alison and tell me if this is what you see. This screenshot was taken yesterday, using an iPad and should be exactly the same as you see. healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

You should be able to click on Pinned Posts at the top to see the whole list.

Alisongold profile image
AlisongoldRestart June 2023 in reply to moreless

Thank you for trying to help me. If I click on posts as shown in your screenshot then the pinned posts has no โ€˜see allโ€™ above the 5 posts displayed.

If I see all topics and click on Maintainers then August not September is the last post stream displayed.

moreless profile image
morelessAdministrator7 stone in reply to Alisongold

There shouldn't be 'see all' any more, it was removed in January and the new options added.

Look at the top line, where is says:

Latest, Unanswered, Popular, Pinned, Recently Active, Polls (all outlined in blue)

Click on Pinned.

Topics are always dependent on hosts filing their threads. The September Maintainers' Club has not been filed, but it's definitely in Pinned Posts.

Worse than the Bermuda triangle!

My screen is not displaying the above options.

I have a padlocked Healthunlocked.com site.

The top line offers Home -My hub- Chat -Notifications bell

The lower heading offers Home-Post- Members ( New)- About

There are no headings above the 5 pinned posts on the right.

I have checked and the App is not displayed on my desktop.

Iwonder where the headings you mention might be.

moreless profile image
morelessAdministrator7 stone in reply to Alisongold

We need to go step by step.

First, delete the app, so that it definitely can't be used.

Click on My Hub.

Click on Weight Loss NHS.

Click on Posts.

Beneath Home, Posts, Members (New), About

See Sort posts by:

Latest, Unanswered, Popular, Pinned, Recently Active, Polls (all outlined in blue)

Click on Pinned.

If you cannot perform any one of these stages, then you need to report the fault to HU, by clicking on your avatar (top right of your screen), then click on Help.

Maybe try the nhs 12 week plan? Very healthy and can eat all food groups. It is Mediterranean/ DASH type diet. Never seem to see it suggested to new starters by hosts but this does result in a steady weight loss of 1/2 pounds per week. Think 12-24 pounds in 3 months. It works.

morelessAdministrator7 stone in reply to Slimforsummer

You should maybe read the Welcome Newbie post that everyone receives, including you, as I gave it to you, Slimforsummer, as the NHS 12 week plan is mentioned and linked.

Slimforsummer profile image
SlimforsummerVisitor in reply to moreless

Yes but doesnโ€™t seem to be recommended to Newbies on this page. Seems to be all higher fat low carb which I am not against but feel there should be more balanced views offered by administrators of this site.

You'll see that BridgeGirl has given a link to the Welcome Newbie thread, just the same as every newbie receives.

Hi ShellieL,

We sound like we are going through a similar situation as Iโ€™m back to this forum after a long time with the goal of losing weight and being healthy. I have tried various different weight loss approaches but Iโ€™m thinking Iโ€™m going to try NHS weight loss again. Iโ€™m even going to start jogging again on Monday.

It would be great to discuss our similar situation and experiences. Thanks

Bernadette
