snacking at night

I'm only on week 2 and althogh I have lost 6lbs the first week I'm finding nights hard. I'm notb really hungry but want to snack. I'm eating odd mouthfuls of things that are healthy and not so but I know will add up in calories. I know what I need to do but havent put it into practice yet.im walking more. drinking no wine which was main problem. I still drink but G and T slim lime tonics. This has really helped me as when I drink wine I eat cheese. olives and crisps. I've bought a packet of low fat baked crisps but still are 90 calories. Any tips on tasty spicy or full flavour low fat unususal snacks. not hummas and carott sticks or baked chickpeas.

I wonder why snacks are playing such a big part for you? It's likely that increasing what you eat at your meals, including adding healthy fats, would leave you satisfied and you'd find you didn't need to eat between meals.

My tip would be to start adding your meal plans to the Daily Diary and sharing ideas there, then you can get some suggestions based on your overall eating plan. Here's the link for today's and you can see other members' plans healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Thank you .I'm finding it hard to navigate this site. I don't know where to add daily diet or keep track of my self.

There is a lot going on here :) If you go back to the reply moreless gave you earlier this week, you'll find all the links you need to help you find your way around. This may also help healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Just a thought: you're not using the app, are you? It doesn't give full access to the site so you're always best to use the website, whatever device you're using

How about your water intake. If you drink more perhaps you might snack less. Especially at night. I read somewhere that often we mistake thirst for hunger. Also boiled eggs is great for snack as it is hight in protein. Adding spice such as paprika or even some garlic to food make them tasty. Do you eat Greek yogurt? Avocado? Having 1 brown toast with some avocado (full of healthy fat). Perhaps also revisiting your last meal at night so that you don’t feel like eating later on during the night. Or using some distractions, tidying, even exercising to keep the mind off food.

Maybe try and hide those pesky little snacks so you wont be tempted to eat them, and maybe you're not eating enough fibre and so you're not full after the meal.

Also how did you manage to lose 6lbs in your first week?

I have 4 stone to loose and had just been on a holiday so I've been eating lots before so it was easy. I've been eating very little carbs eating more veg to bulk meals out. ive eaten eggs and bacon a bit for brunch. no wine has been main thing I've cut out. I now have a g and slimline tonic. no cheese butter and bread which I loved. I'm making it up as I go. I'm walking more as have a dog

Hi djsapg :) I know exactly what you mean about wine and snacks - I always have to have salty snacks if I drink wine - if I am completely honest I don't even like the taste of wine without the snacks... :) silly really... but I have started having a pink berry gin and diet lemonade - I don't seem to want snacks with that. it must be the wine that does it! good luck to you! x

What did you eat to lose 6lb in a week?

djsapg profile image
djsapg in reply to LisaMarie_1992

I cut out wine cheese and nibbles. I had just had a weeks holiday so put on a couple of lbs then. I reduced my portion size ate less carbs. If I had chilli or spag bog I would eat it with cauliflower rice. asda do it fresh or frozen. or I woukd eat ribbons of courgette s. I started to walk my dog further then the quick 19 mins I had been . I'm still enjoying drinking but will have a G and slimline tonic instead and by cutting down on carbs and sugary foods I lost 6lbs. The first week most people shed a lot of weight then it tails off to a lb or 2 lbs per week.

Hi. I’ve been finding an apple helps if I really need a snack. Cored and chopped into slices so I eat it slowly and mindfully. Apples seem to be really sating for me. Good luck!
