Weight loss is 80% diet and just 20% exercise. So my guess is that you are consuming more calories than you are burning off? Plus if you have recently taken up exercise (going to the gym) muscles will be retaining water in order to repair and that can sometimes lead to a temporary weight gain.

Your ability to burn calories will be affected by your sex, age, height and activity level.

Have you worked out the amount of calories you should me limiting yourself to in order to lose weight? Are you logging all the food that you are eating and sticking within a defined limit for weight loss?

Hi, abbier , Welcome.

Do you have a history of dieting?

Refined carbohydrates, grains, potatoes and sugar are all fattening.

You might be on a weight-loss plateau

What works for some of us is a combination of the Low-Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCH) diet, see the forum here of Health Unlocked, and (Intermittent) Fasting, which is particularly good for getting off weight loss plateaux. See:
