Weight loss shakes yes or no?

I used to be on Herbalife a few years back and even tho I lost the weight when I stopped I gained it all back again, but now that everyone and my doctor is telling me to lose weight would it be beneficial to invest in a good brand of meal replacement shakes to get me on the right path? Or shall I just stick to calorie counting?

I would have thought your previous experience would have been your answer, NatashaP. If the way you lose weight isn't sustainable, then neither will the weight loss be.

Yeah stay away from the shakes. I did the lipotrim years ago and thought I was great when I’d lost a stone and a half in 3 weeks. Went back on nearly as quick as I’d lost it. I’ve lost all mine from calorie counting. And exercise.

Thank you moreless and greenman81 for the advice I’m glad I spoke to someone before making a bad decision.

Sounds like you've chosen a sensible path NatashaP.

If you want people to know you're talking about them (other than replying specifically to one of their posts) you need to 'tag' them. If you start by adding a '@' before typing the name, then you will see a drop down of names and you can click on the right one ie. @greenman etc... (Tagging Greenman81 & moreless )

@tiggerr thank you I’m new so I don’t have a clue on how to use this app properly so thank you for being so kind and letting me know I don’t think anyone would have got my replies until now ☺️

Hi NatashaP, I’ve tried many different diets in the past and gained it all back. When I was told last year I needed to lose weight again to go on waiting list for an op, I was very reluctant because I envisaged getting even larger afterwards. This time, I’ve lost the weight by switching to low carb, high fat (LCHF) and though it took me a while to get my head around the idea that eating healthy fats could be good for me, the results have been amazing and I’m so much happier and less hungry generally.

Hi NatashaP I think you have made your own mind up about avoiding the shakes which is great.

As PandQs mentioned above try the LCHF eating plan, it's great for weight loss here is a link to the LCHF forum it has lots of really interesting reading everyone is very helpful and encouraging.

Hate fad diets so yes combination of healthy eating and exercise is the way.

Good luck to you on your journey

As you and everyone else so far said they work in the short term but not sustainable cos not trainng your body to gradually eat less. Look at different options on here and if doing calorie counting check your allowance on BMI checker but a lot of people like the LCHF plan. Good luck

Hi

I agree with the other comments, I also did Herbalife, spent a lot of money and regained my weight loss after stopping. I know its regular exercise and making good for choices and smaller portions for me, still working on it every day.
