Weight loss

Hi,

I am struggling to lose weight. I have a long term back condition which restricts exercise and work night's which causes erratic eating. Any suggestions would be greatly welcomed.

Thanks for any advice

Hi and welcome, Kitty486 :)

Whilst exercise, in whatever way you can manage, is important for health and well-being, it's not necessary for weight loss, which will be more down to what you eat and whilst shift work may make things a little more difficult, as long as you stick to 2, or 3 meals a day, choose your food wisely and don't snack, then you should be just fine.

Follow this link to our chat thread and a list of all the activities we run. We've found active participation to be key to success, especially with our weigh-ins and Daily Diary.

Hi Kitty, I feel for you as I have a long term back condition too that basically means any standing or walking can cause extreme pain. I do however work days so that is easier for me. I started losing weight at the end of Feb and have now lost 27lbs, my starting point was 17st 4. It has not been easy but so worth it! However, if there is an occasion I will eat more and then straight back on the next day.

I now realise that I will need to be careful with what I eat forever, especially as I cannot exercise to help. That is why if life throws me a curve like a holiday or birthday I will take time out as I know I will go straight back! I have never been able to do that before and I really think my mind is now in the right place, it is a bit like giving up smoking tbh!

Good luck with your 'journey' and just keep on keeping on and you will get there in the end Hun.xx

Hi, Kitty486 , Welcome.

What works for many members is a combination of the Low-Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) diet and Not Eating All Day aka Intermittent Fasting (IF). See:

Thanks for the support. I am so used to being active that I find it hard not to move more.

I think you are right about the mindset as that makes all the difference
