How to lower cholesterol.

Hi, I'm Christine 61 and have just found out I have high cholesterol and need to get it down with gentle exercise and healthy eating because I don't want to go on statins if I can sort it myself. There are certain foods that help to lower it but when I've looked it up it's such a mine field I don't quite know where to start. So if anyone can give me tips on how and where to start, that would be great.

Hello, Tinky06, and welcome to the forum 😊

You're right, there is a lot of information out there, often conflicting. My advice would be to do all the reading you can and reach your own judgement about the way forward.

Here's a video you may find interesting

I love Aseem, I'd also be of the opinion that statins should only be prescribed for secondary prevention of further heart attacks etc. youtube.com/watch?v=9N7CvW1...

Thank you ScoobaSteve I will watch this later. It's all a bit confusing. Some information is conflicting depending on which site you go on but I will get there.

Thank you for your reply I will do some reading and more research on it and I have downloaded the 12 week diet program to see if that will help me.

I've looked at half of the video link and I must say it's very interesting and an eye opener, my GP wanted me to go on statins but I said I didn't want them and that I wanted to try lowering my cholesterol with exercise and healthy eating first to see if it can make a difference and I am hoping it will. I will watch the rest of the video later so thanks again :)

Welcome Tinky and whilst I'm not in any position to offer medical advice, I personally feel, like you, that we should at least investigate natural methods.

Good luck and feel free to join in!

Thank you Tiggerr. Yes if I can reduce my cholesterol by natural methods it's certainly worth trying.

sage tea mixed with camomile is very good for lowering cholesterol but you need at least 3 big glasses a day. It needs to be cooked in a tea pot and the leaves to be loose not in (tea bags).

Artichoke is a wonderful food for cholesterol but if is in a jar wash it to get rid of the oil before you eat it.

Try these remedies daily

Thank you Palamas I love chamomile tea but have never tried sage with it. I shall give it a go 👍

I have loads to learn but yes I've read something similar. I guess it's a case of the more natural foods you can eat is far better than the low fat and sweetners that they claim are good for you.
