Loosing weight to not fall on my head!

....Nah just kidding, but I am a pole dancer and I do truly wanna be a bit lighter to become more agile. Also just purely for aesthetic purposes since my beloved hobby involves 7” platform Pleasers and tiny pole sets and I just wanna look (even more) bomb. So hi y’all! Excited to start this journey and connect with some awesome peeps! 🍑✨

Welcome PoleFrog ... like the name :)

I get the feeling from your post and your pic that you don't have much weight to lose, so good luck with your journey.

Losing weight when we're close to our ideal can be more difficult which is just my way of saying, not to be too hard on yourself, which can lead to frustration when weight loss doesn't occur at the rate we hoped.

You're clearly quite fit and burn energy pole dancing so that will definitely be a plus point towards your goal.

Good luck!

Hello! Thank you for your reply. Yeah I do not wanna lose more than maybe 8kgs maximum. But it is so easily postponed, when it is not a lot of weight because I do not need it for health reasons so I keep putting it off so that I can be lazy and continue eating all of the food!!

You're so right about putting things off especially when, as you say, there's no specific health concern.

Just wondering though, have you got that 8kg number from the NHS BMI calculator?

Nah I have not done any of the homework just yet - starting on Monday so will be doing calculations during the weekend. I do not think I need to lose MORE THAN 8 kgs, but I do not know if that is the number I will be aiming for just yet.

I'm just wondering if you'll find that you don't need to lose even that much.

Good luck... :)

Hello PoleFrog!

I knew a wonderful South Africa lady who taught pole dancing, claiming it was the best form of body-strengthening exercise there is, and having tried it briefly about ten years ago (I was getting on a bit to do that, even then...) I could appreciate that it's HARD and requires a lot of discipline to do well.

The greatest incentive I can think of to lose more weight is to watch what happens to fat when you turn it upside down!

Doing this with my face is a horribly good example... 🤪

You obviously don't have a dire problem but Very Good Luck in your self-imposed challenge. We all want to lose weight for health but if it makes us feel good about the way we look, then that's a fantastic bonus too.. Betty x

Hello Betty! Pole dancing is amazing and if anything, it teaches you to embrace your body (even when all of your body fat gets tangled up around the pole HA! I do not have any other motive than purely fitness and aesthetic to lose weight. I am healthy and all, but you know what accepting that my body image is an important thing to me is provably the best thing that I can do at this point as I have been trying to hide this information from myself for a long time, ultimately making myself largely unhappy. So here we go, time to work a little harder! X

Sounds great and good for you: you are not only addressing your own important needs but helping to disentangle the wondrous activity of pole dancing from its unnecessarily dodgy reputation.

We would ALL be better off with a pole in our living rooms!

love and supportive hugs, Betty x

Hello Concerned (loving your user name! ). Yeah I am aware of that I am not planning to eat heaps of protein but if I work out and strength train for around 4 hours a week I might need to complement it with at least some protein!
