I desperately need to lose weight. Please help. But don’t tell me things so difficult that I give up before I start. 😔

Hello MK1978 and welcome.

An administrator will reply shortly with an official welcome, including links to information on how to move forward.

The good thing, is that few people here believe in making difficult the process of weight loss and healthy living. In fact the reason many people are here is because they've tried one extreme 'diet' after another and these rarely work in the long term. Now they follow a path of slow sensible weight loss and gentle levels of exercise designed to meet each person's current physical levels.

Two things I can suggest for now.... read everything the admin replies to you (more than once possibly) and then make sure you use this forum as regularly as you can. Try reading as many as the posts as you can and if you feel like it, try joining in with replies and maybe some of the fun challenges.

Best of luck and stay close :)

Hello,

The easiest thing is to plan small changes and to take this journey one day at a time. Have a look at what you are eating now, and think you can swap for a healthier option, or for a smaller portion. I find it easy to adjust the size of portion of pasta or potato on my plate to have more vegetables on it instead. And for snacks, I try and plan ahead to avoid grabbing the wrong thing. I hope this helps.

Cheers,

Sarah

Goodmorning and welcome to our friendly forum MK1978

I see you have already had 2 helpful replies :)

My best advice would be to make sure you are not eating any diet , lite or low fat foods. Eat full fat yoghurt, cheese, olive oil, avocado and other good satiating fats that will keep you full between meals, making it unnecessary to snack. Cut down on the white carbs, such as bread, pasta, rice and potatoes and up your vegetables.

If you are going to follow the NHS 12 week plan, then please make sure you calculate your calorie range by using the NHS BMI calculator - the link is in the information below. Start at the higher end so you have room to lower your calories as you loose weight. Please do not be tempted to start too low. You should not feel hungry.

If you have a lot of weight to loose, break it down into tiny steps and celebrate each mini goal you reach with a non food reward. Sometimes looking at the big picture can be too overwhelming.
