I need some motivation

Hi everyone,

I am new here, I've been struggling with my weight as a teenager and unfortunately this has followed onto my adult life. I am currently overweight and need to lose 10kg to reach my optimum weight. Does anyone have any tips especially for keeping motivated as i tend to give up easily.

Hello and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum Yasmina ❤️

If you haven’t already, then please read the Welcome post here which has lots of useful information about all the things we have on offer healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

The best advice I can give is have enough to eat. If you are following the NHS 12 Week plan then the 1400/1900 calorie target suggested is a just generic amount, please check your own personal calorie target using the BMI checker, it’s often higher than you think. We always advise starting towards the top of the range, being hungry is the biggest cause of weight loss failure

I recommend coming onto the forum regularly, daily if you can, reading posts and replying to others. Being part of a community is proven to help weight loss.

For your own privacy and safety online we suggest that you lock your posts by selecting ‘members of my community’ when you write a new post. Please read our security post here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... especially as your post isn’t locked

Best wishes and have a good first week

Indigo 😊

Hello and welcome to the forum. Take it day by day and try and plan your meals ahead so you won't start picking. The daily diary on here is really helpful and helps you stick to what you will eat on a daily basis. I find if you say what you are going to eat during the day on here then you don't seem to eat anything extra. If you have a bad day put it behind you and start again, everyone has their off day. Good luck with your journey.

Hello and welcome- don't think this as a diet- since if you are like me the word 'diet' is a negative one- restrictions on what you can eat and drink. Think of it as a life style change- eating healthier and becoming more active. People use different methods to help with this- calorie counting (this is what I used to loose weight and still use as a maintainer-NHS 12 week weight loss plan), but others use the 5:2 and all its variations, low carb:high fat diet, whilst others just cut out or eat less of unhealthy foods and alcohol. Its really what works for you and what you can sustain in the long term.

I like calorie counting since I can still eat the same type of foods I did before I decided I needed to loose some weight. However I have smaller portions or a more balanced meal- so may have 1 high calorie meal but this will be balanced with 2 low calorie meals. I still have the occasional crisps of alcoholic drink but they are part of my allowance for the day. Though I do have the occasional blips when I eat outside my allowance, but I just get back on track again!

Hi I am in the same boat. I was more active as a teen but still overweight. i was very emotional and people used to try to fix that with food - working on changing that now. I think try to set goals and plan meals. there are days when I have no motivation and all i want to do is eat chocolate, i will go out especially and buy it. Take things one step at a time. I now work in pounds as its smaller amounts so its easier to see progress. use the people on here I have found it so useful.
