Hi gareth0073

Your pasties look scrumptious - I bet they are tasty.

So yummy, love pasties pies that are healthy. Need to pass this on to some of my friends. Any special herbs?

Hello, cherv, and welcome to the forum :)

Pastry and pies can't really be described as a healthy option, though you may like one occasionally. The problem is, as with most carbohydrates, they just leave you craving more.

I see from a previous post that you have diabetes so you really need to be developing a diet that manages your blood sugar level and minimises insulin fluctuations. These links may be helpful

I disagree the dough is a packet of pizza mix which is ment to make one 9 in pizza. The mix with this will make 6-8 pasty!! Which will be less then one slice of bread. My father was diabete and he was the one who came up with this. Just be careful what you put in there. Thanks Gareth

You might find the links I gave cherv interesting in the advice they give regarding an appropriate diet for people with diabetes.

For anyone, with or without a health concern, I'd advise using fresh ingredients rather than processed as a healthier option. Of course, we are all free to make our own choices.

It's not just about calories: all calories aren't the same in how they affect our bodies healthline.com/nutrition/6-...

Thank you so much for the links I will take a look at them. I' not the typical diabetic I weight about 100lbs keep a wonderful A1C which my DEXCOM helps me support my numbers. My endo. wants me to consume carb's for weight gain. My husband is strickly on a Keto diet so most of my carb's are consumed for lunch time meals. Your point on glucose flucuation is very important although as gareth pointed out we all vary and one thing may spike an indivdual and not another. At times I can eat the heathiest and spike the highest numbers. Fools me! Although as biabetic;s we know that is battle we face and it is ever changing.

I have lot's of idea's. I also do not think the calorie count can be that high for a couple piece. Freeze the remainder. I make my own soups with out flour we eat mainly keto. Do use Rio pasta sauce very low in carb content and other negitives for diabetic's. Would make a great ham and cheese. Tons of great things could result withoout it being very wicked!!!!!! Thanks for the support, sure gramps watched what he ate!
