Returning After 2 years

Hi Folks,

Well I was doing really well until November 17 when unfortunately I had a serious fall. The result of which caused the titanium post in my left thigh to loosen. This problem became quite bad and I had severe pain restricting my walking and almost everything I could do. I ceased eating sensible food, commenced drinking beer, wine and vodka, yes, the dreaded pounds piled on and the 2 stones I had shed quickly returned. I am not tall only 5.8”.

I was referred back to RNOH Stanmore where I saw my previous consultant. He was not convinced that the post was sufficiently loose to go back into the leg. I wont bore you with the time in between however on 21 January I was fortunate to have it replaced with a bespoke prosthesis and titanium post. Returning home on 28 January pain free for the first time in over 20 months. Okay, I had a little soreness around the wound but that’s all. I am now able to get about on one stick and have commenced my physio light exercises as recommended. I can once more stand unaided. Better still painlessly.

Now on 29 January I weighed myself and came in at a whooping 16.4 stones. I decided to go back to my good habits of 2017 yesterday one week in I stood on the scales and was chuffed I had lost 7 lbs

So onwards and upwards. Seeing my doctor today to have the stitches removed and Friday back at RNOH Stanmore for my first post operation outpatient physio appointment.

Best regards

Ronnie
