Well I signed up on Monday for the 12 week plan and I have managed to stick to healthy eating and 1400 calories a day so far. Not a brilliant achievement I know, but I am determined to stick to the plan. So far so good. 😀😄😄😄

Well done for sticking to the plan fattybygaslight for the past 5 days, that is a brilliant achievement :) The only thing I would question though is the amount of calories that you are eating. The figures of 1400 is a generic figure that is not suitable for most of us. Please take yourself along to the NHS BMI calculator, the link is in your Newbie pack, calculate your own personal calorie range and then start towards the top end. If you are tiny with not much weight to loose then that 1400 figure may be right, if not, using the 1400 amount suggested, will not be sustainable long term. You will loose weight for a while but if it is too low for you, the weight loss will stop and you will have no where to go. Ideally, when you have reached your goal, you will want to be eating more than 1400 calories to maintain.

Have a read of this - healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Please don't let my comment 'burst any bubbles', you are doing great, but under eating is a very common mistake made here and one that can de rail us further down the track. If we can help you avoid it, we like to :)

Keep up the good work :)

Thanks for the advice I will check it out for sure. I am not in a hurry to loose weight I want it to come off and stay off😀

Good, that is a sensible approach. Slowly and steady will win the race :) If you have questions or don't understand something, please don't be shy about asking :)

Well done sticking to your plan all through the work week!

Bless you, but I am actually retired now so can't claim to have work stress. 😀

:-) I´m sure you know the pensioner´s greeting though: "O-hi-how-are-you?!-Sorry-can´t-stop-so-busy!"

Of course! Or the even more smug, " I don't know where I had the time to work" 😂

:-D Didn´t know that one yet. So you see: getting through a whole work week IS an achievement and you get to be proud of it.

It sure is and our staff room was always full of really awful temptations, such as cakes, giant tins of Heros and Roses etc. I don't even like these things much but when the bell rang for the end of the day and the kids went home you sometimes reached for something without thinking about it. Good thing was that we used to have early morning exercise sessions, (see my post about Hula Hooping" ) I loved my job teaching, but I don't miss the perpetual grind of working life. I have been retired two years now and occasionally go in on supply for the odd day and I really notice now just how stressed out everyone is.

Sounds like you earned your retirement fair and square. Kids are the most important thing a society has after all and I greatly admire good teachers.

Thanks 🙏 I loved the kids and that is the part I miss sometimes, I don’t miss the ever overwhelming bureaucracy of it all!

Hello, fbg, I hope you'll take lucigret 's advice about getting your calorie range from the NHS BMI calculator as the 1400 is generic and suits very few of us :)

Has anyone given you these links? It could show you a new approach and give you some new thoughts on healthy eating

Wishing you a good week ahead :)

I would recommend joining a weekly weigh in on the day of your choice, if you haven't already done so :)

I started on Monday so I was going to weigh in then. Thanks again, the support from the administrators is brilliant xx

You'll get great support from the weigh in, too. You'll get to know people over time and support each other along the way. There are plenty of longstanding members of the Monday team, but plenty of recent joiners, too, so you'll be in good company :)

and our reward is seeing you being brave enough to be open minded and brave enough to try something different. Good luck :)
