Hula hoop

As well as a nice long walk in the cold crisp sunshine I had 15 minutes on my power hula hoop. I am not sure if hula hooping uses much calories but it does make me feel good anyway

Have you tried a power hoop, they are weighted so they are easier to get going. Just keep having a go, once you get the technique it is easy. Good luck

They are good fun. I have retired now but I started doing it early in the morning before starting work with a few of my colleagues. We would blare out some music and often laugh so much at each other’s facial expression and “hip action “.. It was a great start to the day and set us in the right frame of mind for the strains and stresses of the day. We are all teachers of children with special educational needs, so we had to start the day in the right frame of mind. My local sports centre has a power hoop class too, so it is worth looking out for. I just do it on my own now but I still put on music and I have compiled a “hula hoop playlist”

I didn't realise they called the weighted ones - power hoops. I've been using one for a while too I noticed that tend to find that it seems easier in one direction than the other, I'm not sure if it's due to being right handed. What do you think?

Hi there

I could not use mine in an anti clockwise direction at all at first but I kept trying and one day it just came to me. Once I could do it I could do it is easily as the other side. Must be muscle memory I think. Keep trying because it took quite while before I could go in both directions. Good luck 😉

Yes I have done so now

Thanks a lot! I am just off swimming now. I am good at exercise and I eat very healthy food, I just eat far too much of it. Never had a weight problem till after the menopause. I clearly don’t need as much
