Hello and welcome, youve come to the right place , this forum is full of advice and ideas , I personally do the 16/8 eating regime and hiit training for excercise, but I think the golden rule is to eat healthy with as much fruit and veggies as possible, good luck with your journey

5 kids ? That must keep you busy running round after them ? Ha ha they say working nights can play havoc with your system, I hope you manage to work something out to suit your routine

I do meal planning.

First of all I set myself a calorie range (using the NHS BMI calculator, you'll see it in the newbie pack). I sat down every night and planned what I was going to eat next day, adding up the calories involved and adjusting till I got it in the right range. I could plan in whatever I wanted, provided I accounted for it and included it in my daily total. Nothing was off limits but it might mean I could have less of something else, so it forced me to be sensible. Twenty minutes well-spent every night.

I also recorded it every day in the Daily Diary and I got loads of support from others. I used the weekly weigh-in to record my progress and get (and give!) encouragement.

I have used recipes in the recipe boards, and posted a few myself - sharing good ideas.

I did moderate levels of exercise, just working it into my day (but I was doing that anyway).

As my weight dropped, I went back to the BMI calculator periodically to get a new calorie range.

I really enjoy my food and I have a new appreciation for healthy eating.

I lost 2 stone in 5 months and am now at a healthy weight. It's been brilliant. I'm staying around so I can keep the weight off!
