I'm back and I hope I'm here finding you all well, healthyish and still on your weight loss journeys. I'm starting my again after being diagnosed on Thursday with Biliary Colic, Diabetic IBS & Gallstones. Unfortunately I'm suffering with stomach pains every minute of every day, but I know it could be worse and for some people it is. I was wondering if any of you fine people have a favourite Mediterranean recipe you'd recommend. No spices included please.

I'll share my weight tomorrow 😳 when I've built up the courage to stand on scales haha

Hello JOPAT111 and welcome back. Sorry you've been having a rough time and I hope that getting back involved with the forum will help.

I don't have a particular recipe but a quick Google gave me this website that suggests menus for a week. That may give you some ideas. healthline.com/nutrition/me... Have you been advised to try this approach or have you worked out for yourself that that will be best for you?

Here's a link to the Newbie pack which will help you find your way around healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

I shall swap your badge for a Restart one and look forward to seeing you at the weigh in tomorrow :)

Thank you for everything and I'll read everything now. I was advised to start the Mediterranean diet after my heart attack. I incorporated some things but with the way my stomach is thought I'd give it all my attention.

Thanks again Hun

Oh Jopat111, you are going through it at the moment. And I’m sure a Mediterranean diet may help to ease some of the pain you are experiencing. But have you looked at the hflc way of eating. I have no medical experience but I have read posts on here that the lchf diet is good for diabetes. I have been following it and my stomach feels loads better, I have none of the bloating which I used to have, and my mood is better. If you are interested I am sure someone will send you a link for you to have a look at it. And don’t worry about getting weighed it’s about eating healthier and adding activities into your lifestyle. Do what you are comfortable with and give yourself an extra push and gradually you will build up to it. Keep posting and you will get the support and information to help you along.

Hello Hun, I'd defiantly look into lchf diet, even if my bloating goes it would be a good start, Thanks for recommending it xx

Processed foods are a problem for me too, I enjoy making meals from scratch but I also appreciate it’s difficult if you are working and have family commitments too. By eliminating some obvious foods it could make a big difference as to how you feel.

I love cooking but I'm in so much stomach pain lately last thing I want to do is to be around food. At the mo I'm frightened to eat anything that may set gallstones or acid off.

You must eat something and it could give you something positive to do. Try some fish cooked in herbs, I like tarragon with salmon. I always add some to my omelettes. With some salad leaves it would be an enjoyable meal. Add some cheese too, this will increase your calories.

With the Mediterranean Diet I'm eating lots of fish, chicken with spinach, peppers, hummus etc Basil or Walnut oil on bread thins instead of butter and taking my time when eating. My worry is that something will set stomach off and the severe pain returns. Normally I'd know exactly what meals my partner & I would be having all week, now I having to stop and think about it instead of jumping into a cookbook.

It’s good you are thinking about what you are eating, but having butter is good and it will help you to increase your calorie intake, so is olive oil and coconut oil. Using herbs will add flavour to mild dishes especially if you are used to using spices. Also look at daily diary, there are some excellent menus and recipes too. Just keep posting and you will discover different ways of adjusting your diet to suit you and enjoy a healthy lifestyle and diet. Good luck and keep focused.
