Hello christofel and a very warm welcome to the Weight Loss Forum 😊

First of all, please take a look at the Welcome Newbie Post for advice about how the forum works and all the things we have on offer. Please read it carefully as it has lots of important information. healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Having enough to eat is vital, if you are following the NHS 12 Week plan then the 1400 calorie target suggested is a just generic amount, so check your calorie target on the BMI checker, it’s often higher than you think. Also look at what you are eating, as we get older we move less so need less instant energy from foods like bread and pasta. Have a look at this inspiring here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Also try to come onto the forum regularly, daily if you can, reading posts and replying to others. Being part of a community is proven to help weight loss. Why not join our daily chat thread ‘What’s Happening Today? And tell us all a little about your day.

I notice you haven’t locked your post which means anyone can read it after a simple internet search 😕. Please read this for advice about internet safety healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Best wishes and have a great first week

Indigo 😊

Hiya

I'm 63 and have lost over a stone and a half in 2 years. The best advice I got was to have a smaller plate to cut down on portion sizes. To make small acheiveable goals and aim for a 1-2lb weight loss each week.

Good Luck on your journey😊

Hi Christobel,

I am 63, and over the last 3 years have got my weight down from 15st 7lbs to 12st 10lbs...still a few lbs to go. Age is really no excuse not to lose those lbs, unless you have an illness which restricts movement. What you need is that “carrot on a stick”...something in your mindset that makes you want to do it. Your health is usually the biggest incentive, followed by being able to hike, dance, cycle, ride etc! Once you are fully focused, then clear out your kitchen cupboards, sign up to an online calorie counter and plan the first day’s meals....allow yourself around 1500 calories to start with, you can cut down later when you have less to lose. Get stuck in to some healthy, low carb foods....no piece of cake or pile of chips is worth the pain of sore knees and a walking frame in your older years!
