Nothingbutdetermined profile image

Hi everyone I've just been looking at the NHS site for healthy eating and weight loss. I'm the biggest I have ever been my BMI is 56! So it is time to get started...I've just looked at what calorie intake I should be aiming for and going to print the week one ready to go shopping and get cracking.

I hope you're all well and I cant wait to hear about your success 😘

That’s NA excellent start 😊.

Have a good look around at all the links Bridgegirl has given you and just ask if you have any questions

I highly recommend the Daily Diary for meal planning, and also regular involvement on the forum, especially the daily chat thread healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

hello and welcome! im katy and I have lost 18 pounds so far, well the last time I was here I lost 25 and have since gained it back. if you have some responsibility such as posting and reading, I find that I am much more likely to succeed so I recommend hang out with us! an admin will post soon on all the great links you will want to help you succeed in this endeavor. first, look at it as a new way of living not a diet. a diet sounds like you are going to cut back and then lose some weight and go back to your other "normal" way of eating. this is a new normal and I am trying the low carb high fat way of doing it. I am addicted to carbs in the worse way so I am hoping this works for me. I know it will if I work it. so welcome and chin up doll! anyway it sounds like the BMI you quoted may be off a bit so try to use the website the admin will give you to check it. it works really well. good luck!

Thank you for your reply I'm going to make this a lifestyle change. I've been on diets in the past and they dont work 😊 time for a healthy way of living.

Take each day as it comes if you don’t keep to what you want to do just tweak the next day to compensate for it. I don’t say I’m in a diet as I’m not I’m eating healthily as part of a lifestyle change and if I want to goto McDonald’s I will but I work it into my weekly goal.

When I started my bmi was 57.6 and now it’s 30.3 so still got 0.3 to go till I’m overweight lol but it can be done.

Enjoy the journey and do what you feel is right for you.

Remember that the Nhs week one is generically set at 1400 cals and not what your own range is just make an adjustment to it to work your own figures into it.

Onwards and downwards

Pete

Well done for taking the 1st step. I have lost 4st 1lb and instead of counting calories i joined Slimming World as i enjoy their way of food optimising because i like to eat a lot and feel satisfied and full. But good luck your on the right track.

As the others have said, if you are calorie counting you need to follow the range the NHS BMI calculator gives you and have confidence that you will lose weight.

I see you have not locked your post. This means that it, and any replies, can be shared around the Internet by Twitter, Facebook etc (see the logos below your post); for this reason, some members are unwilling to reply to unlocked posts.

Well done for making your decision. I've made it down from obesity II to overweight and am expecting to get to a healthy BMI by about Easter or summer next year. It's a long way, but every tiniest loss is a motivator. And it's a lifestyle change. I will continue this and I feel it is manageable for a lifetime. I don't miss anything. I just eat less than before. My easy guideline is to aim at 80% full.

Good luck. After a few days it will feel easier.
