I am looking to lose 2 stone which is around my stomach and thighs. I eat healthy foods and everything is homemade. I don't do a lot of exercise due to copd , a weak bladder and I have problems with my knees where I cant kneel or crouch. S I am stuck with what to do. I have cut most sugar out all cakes and biscuits and chocolate. I have changed my wardrobe three times since March and frankly dont want to do it again, I need help and advice please

Hello again Shirehorse, I have welcomed you on a previous post, sorry.

We have lots of members who are unable to exercise for one reason or another but still successfully loose weight. There are lots of exercises on You-tube that you can do in your own home, even sitting down.

Although exercise is good for us, weight loss is mostly down to what we eat. It sounds as though you have a head start - well done for cutting back on the sugar :)

Are you eating enough? Take a look at the NHS BMI calculator to calculate your own personal calorie range. You should aim towards the top end and come down slowly as you loose weight.

You might find this an interesting read as well

Another thought, as you are so good at planning, take a look at the Daily Diary and enter your menu plan here each day. We will be able to see what you are eating then and may be able to make further suggestions.

Until recently I was a disabled powerchair user, but I was able to lose a pound a week by eating less.

You (like many on this forum) might have metabolic (insulin) problems which would make it difficult (but not impossible) for you.

As lucigret says, you might be eating too little.

Have you tried counting calories, or have you just cut down on the fattening stuff?

It can take a while to cut down, and let your appetite adjust it's self to your calorie requirements.

I haven't counted calories as I don't know where to access this information

Theres an app called My Fitness Pal that you can use, its free and has thousands of food items in its memory and if what you have is nog there, they also have a barcode scanner in it so you can scan it to add the calories! I use it and find it very helpful xx

Hi , I am also in a similar boat, although I have no none illness as such, apart from a heart murmur, which I found out last year, due to having chest pains, which was a result from severe anxiety. I too cannot shift my weight, since going through the menapause. I did have glandular fever when I was younger, and I am now wondering if my thyroid is on slow mode again.

It's so difficult to pinpoint the reasons for this issue. I can't get use to it or be happy in my skin as I was always a size 10/12 now I'm 16 and it frustrates me and I get angry , daft really but I get so upset when I go to get dressed each day and something else doesn't fit or feel comfortable

I know have you feel, I am perimenopause and have also put on weight around stomach and gone up 2 dress sizes, I have bought a book called the natural menopause solution, it has a 30 day slim down diet plan, which has helped me kick start my weight loss ( it is American so you do have to substitute some of the food) it does involve calorie counting

Yes. I know the feeling. I have such low self esteem. Weepy some days. My clothes are some time s tight. I cook from scratch most nights. I have reduced my intake as well. I know not to eat cakes etc, but apart from starving myself, I don't know what else to do 😁

I know the feeling. Yesterday I decided to get on the scales as I've been really good I was shocked to see I'm now 10st6 and that was in my underwear . It's going up instead of down x

Oh, poor thing. I am heavier than that. I weigh over 11 stone. I used to be 9 stone. A lovely size 10, now I have thighs and stomach and a tight size 12/14
